I would try completely removing the AMD drivers, restart, reinstall latest again (or betas).
If it keeps happening I would force remove the drivers from Safe Mode with Display Driver Uninstall or the "missing in action" Catalyst Uninstaller that AMD took off their site about 6 months ago~a year. If you aren't used to Safe Mode or scared of BSOD don't do it. Uninstall your AMD Drivers from Control Panel Restart into Safe Mode Run Display Driver Uninstall Restart Install Latest Drivers If you have a BSOD on restart. Go back to Safe Mode. Go to System->Device Manager->Display Adapters Remove them, restart. Safe Mode /w Networking will save the day
If that doesn't help at all and even current Betas are doing it. Is using DirectX acceptable to you assuming it doens't crash?
Its using DirectX 11.
However, it seems to have stopped now - it's quite possible another program interfers with DirectX (I do suspect Windows 8.1 has a memory problem somewhere).
In addition, I repaired the game!
I get crashes too on exit every now and then. It's just sloppy programing. I just hit Alt + F4 when I wanna leave... Saves me the Ctr + Alt + Del method. Never crashes with that.
Game is a very slow loading aswell. I put this game on RAMDISK and it still loads just as slow as Raid0 SSD's.
This game is far from optimized.
