I agree with all you have said and I would also like to see an option to change the side it sits at, having it just on the right is ok if you want to shoot from a corner from that side, but if you want to shoot from a corner on the other side you have to move your char right out into the open, so having an option to switch the side it is on would help.

Agreed. The ability to pick left or right offset would be nice.
