Unreal is fantastic. I recently played through it again and the not quite as good expansion but it was stylized and very alien which really helped. It was gorgeous for the day.
I'm talking single player campaign in the original game here, it was huge and the alien settings were amazing. Then I got Unreal 2 and it was even better looking, but as a game...it was terrible.

I played Unreal 1 and Unreal Tournament 3 and think everything about UT3 was gold.

Never played the tournament stuff. Actually I did once at a LAN party but at that time I was focused on BF:1942 which I really liked as I love WW2 games and it was a great time.

The first Unreal Tournament was and still is my favorite. I used to love and change the names of all the bots and adjust the difficulty settings so they were more difficult.
