@Iron_Guard8I really, really wanted to like this game and was really excited when it came out.
Like you, I played and spent money on GW2 and didn’t regret it at all and with BfN I also immediately spent the extra $10 for me and my son’s account once the game officially launched out of Founders but after than the heavy handed FOMO micro-transactions and the broken economy immediately soured my desire to continue to financially support the game.
I was disappointed at the cut down roster but it made sense from a balancing perspective, and I loved the costumes- easily the best they’ve offered in the franchise so far.
I play games which I know I can play for the long term and I usually stick with a game for a couple of years if it’s entertaining or challenging enough.
I think I left BfN after such a short period of time because the game was fairly shallow, and geared towards more casual players. Ops being gutted to the extent that it was really hurt the game for players like me, and the mess that Turf Takeover turned into when they changed TTK, team size and time to capture on objectives all at the same time was another big hit- along with how those changes made a couple of the weekly challenges impossible (I’m looking at you Boss Turf Takeover).
I played GW2 every day, for a couple of hours without the game having any reason for me to do it because the game had deeper gameplay and actual challenge.
I wanted to play BfN daily as well, but the game was much more shallow and the fact that the game demanded your time robbed it of the entertainment value.
I’m playing a game right now which is packed with grind, but that game doesn’t care if you log in every day or not and the stuff that you can get can be gotten at anytime and I think BfN would have been better if it didn’t want your time so desperately and if they had launched with more content rather than the “we’ll add it later” attitude which is killing so many of these “live service” games.
If we see another entry in the franchise I hope they move away from the format with doomed BfN from the very start.
