I actually like the way they've done things. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
@Shinobicap If you like having choice taken away from you then more power to you my friend.

lol there’s lots of choices, just not the ones you were expecting. I will miss my unicorn chomper but you won’t catch me moaning about it on the forums.
- 6 years ago@Shinobicap If it makes you feel better, there is a unicorn hat for the chomper. I will miss my Unicorn Chomper too.

Do not confuse "moaning" with constructive criticism. These forums exist to give players a voice and to encourage constructive conversations. The developers are looking for feedback and we should express what we think works, what we think doesn't work, and so on..
Simply saying "This game sucks" constitutes non constructive "moaning" but a well thought out and well written piece shows intent and the developers are more likely to take the post seriously, especially if multiple people are saying the same thing.
- 6 years ago@Shinobicap I do certainly wish they would give it a tiny chance, but I think its fair to be disappointed if the reasons YOU played the gw games are gone in the latest installment. I think a lot is there that they would still enjoy, but gw and bfn are pretty different games that play very differently, its not just variants being gone. I wouldn't say people are just "moaning on the forums" for the heck of it, but rather expressing their disappointment and WHY exactly they were interested in the gw games, but not bfn. Again I'd say its all fair, like it or not its the next PVZ shooter and obviously fans from the previous two games are going to be looking into the game and make comparisons.

I love both GW games, so much so that until BfN came out I did every single quest in GW2 every time they popped up. I was excited for BfN and now have 107 hours in it already. Mostly PvE (the PvE areas are fantastic but we need more of them) but some PvP of course. A few things came off as dubious to me, the lack of variants, the lack of card packs, the less vibrant color palette for the terrain, but I've already adapted to all that and am looking forward to more stuff.
They do need to address OPs, after balance and optimization issues, I'd say this may be the biggest thing, and the most disappointing portion of the game so far. Other issues are the maps themselves as some capture points are too hard or too easy for one side or the other.
The thing I miss most about variants isn't the toxic or fire damage, but the looks and sounds; the array of Imp mechs, the Sky Troopers gun when it blazed through its ammo, the shiny paint job on the hot rod chomper, the goalie star's mask having 2 different sized eye openings to match the character's eyes, and etc. As far as game balance, they were an absolute nightmare and so many were underused they only existed for weirdos like me that play everything, or those that wanted to hit level cap. Plus, if we get completely new characters, that's even better than just painting a pea shooter orange and adding fire effects.
