Finale discussion: Great white north

Great white north finale

An ancient yeti king lies frozen within his castle. The zombies must free him in order to usher in a new ice age to defeat the plants.

After defeating the plants at windy pass the zombies must enter the yeti kings cavern which is opened by a giant fridge door. Inside there are 3 mirros they must redirect to melt the ice the yeti king is entrapped in. They get roughly five minutes.

The entire cavern is cluttered with save our seeds equipment and ice pea seeds can be found throughout.

One mirror will slowly dissolve the ice while all three will go into a suburbination like effect where the ice melts extremely quickly, however plants can turn these mirrors back at any time.

If the zombies win the yeti king will break free and dance to celevrate his newfound freedom.

If the plants win a small tear will come from the king but be frozen shortly after.

A solid finale that comes down to the teams more than anything as even one mirror will melt a solid portion of the ice allowing zombies to never fall extremely behind if they can capture just one, much like suburbination.

The map overall is a spectacle to look at with the frozen tundra being used to a great extent with the artic troopers being stuck in the snow or frozen, snow occasionally falling from the trees, orcas leaping from the water, the blizzards blinding players visions, aurora borealis at night (best night map and why were the night maps never in solo play popcap?), the areas the plants are growing in nice warm enclosures, the yeti kings castle slowy coming into view (funny how both g&g maps in gw2 involve taking castles and their monarchs being involved in some way), and the music is pretty neat.

Since the yeti king boss hunt exists I assume the zombies canonically win this map. Ugh, why did popcap have to remove boss hunts from the portal rotation I still need revenge on the king of dabbing.

  • I quite enjoy this map overall and lots of nice scenery here. One of the many reasons I prefer the PvZ shooters over OW is how much more character things have; instead of point A and point B, we have the secret cabin and the hockey rink. It has some lovely vistas and I enjoy the whales jumping into the air at the first point.

A solid finale that tends to be really busy as the plants fight to keep the mirrors pointed away from the Yeti King and the zombies try to keep them warming up the frozen monarch. Point B has always been a tight, hotly contested mirror when I play, so many bean bombs and ZPGs launched into that tight, enclosed mirror, whereas the other 2 are more open. Feels like a fairly balanced one in my time playing it. Always feel a little sad when the king isn't freed and a little frozen tear appears on his cheek.

We used to all try to get in the camera shot on this one for the final shot of him dancing, even more than the fountain in Wall-Nut Hills, with the king getting down! Good stuff.

@Iron_Guard8Having maps that aren't extremely stock generic with very boring layouts like a majority of fps games is the reason why I love tf2 (even changing up simple modes like A/D in unique ways like steel) and the gw games so much.

Mirror B's positioning helps to not let zombies immediately grab all 3 mirrors much like the third point in suburbination so it isn't extremely easy for zombies to win.

It's a cardinal sin to not try and party with the king when he's freed.
