Let me give you some examples.
Let's suppose that there are only 10 people in total playing this game. 3 are playing as Plants (you included) and 7 are playing as Zombies.
That's why you can easily find a match. There are more Zombie players waiting for a match than Plant players.
The Zombie players, tired that they cannot get a match, try switching sides.
There are now 7 Plant players (still you included) and now only 3 Zombie players. Now you are going to have some trouble looking for a match.
The fact that a Hero makes any difference on the waiting times is just a coincidence. It's not like the devs are intentionally making you wait on THAT particular champion.
-- BUT, what difference does it make if I play as Wall knight, and get no match - but if I play as Solar Flare (STILL A PLANT) and I get a match. It's not like I'm playing as a zombie instead.
I understand that there may be more plants playing.. versus those playing as zombies. BUT, I find if I'm playing as certain Hero, I'm being matched to certain Hero's.. I do not find any of it random. I do understand that some Hero's are more attractive due to their cards, and super powers, as well as ticket boosting. The quests for gems also encourage people to play as certain cards, or as certain side's (plants or zombie)
The card draw is just pathetic at times - seriously it can lose you a game - again proving no skill but does have the ability ensure you keep playing for longer to get the reward, also ensuring you keep others players online. Or EA/Popcap hope you will buy a pack of cards.
The game can be won on the first few rounds in a match - without the opponent having the chance to fight back.
As for, getting a new pack - and the amount of legendary, super rare, rare, etc.. The only set of 4 legendaries I have are Garg feast - funny that, considering bad moon rising is more or less the same thing. You can tell which of the cards your more likely to get when the newer cards are being sold, as your more likely to get the older slightly redundant versions.
There are a lot of algorithms at play in the background in this game.
I don't think very much is truly random.
Do any long-time players remember when Cornucopia used to spawn The Great Zucchini 75% of the time.
Or back before it was called conjuring, whenever you drew a 'random' card, 75% of the time it was the latest event card.
Most of these things have been adjusted over time to be more random (maybe truly random), but I still get matched up with specific heroes based on the deck I'm using.
*I would very much welcome a developer correcting anything that is incorrect there.

I also remember that it was "kinda" easy to summon a second Cornucopia FROM the Cornucopia that you just played. But I mostly think that it was due to the lack of cards back then. (Less cards mean better odds of getting something awesome)
I highly doubt that the programmers were like...
"HI HI HI, let's make the code in a way so that when a Cornucopia is played, 75% of the times will spawn a legendary."
"YES!! And when it spawns a Legendary plant, 75% of the time will be The Great Zucchini"
"Zucchini? But why?"
"Duhh, because I hate aggro decks, and because I can code it that way"
"Ok ok, but what about the other 25% chance?"
"HI HI HI.... it will be... A SECOND.... Cornucopia.... BWHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!! >:D"

Interesting,
I have never received a second Cornucopia. But a lot a times i get Zucchini and Dark Matter Dragonfruit, but I think it is very influential that there are few amphibian plants. But it is true, you almost always get another legendary with Cornucopia. It's great- 8 years ago
talking about Cornucopia, don't bothering you that a first Pineclone change the legendary in the other lines? It's kind of like you're lucky, but you're not lucky. XD

I remember those times.. as I was playing then also..
But yes I think they did use those legendaries to be spawned in those incidents - why? because of Garg Feast, 3 powerful Zombies summoned perhaps the solution was to get 2 legendaries in that instance to fight back? So yes, I do believe that wasn't random, but programmed. Bit like what is happening elsewhere in the game. They the developers think they are balancing the game. But I don't think it is.. it brings in too much random, or (some call it luck) I call it, manipulation. I alter my deck due to the current meta being played - and then my opponent gets cards that no way did he have in his deck, as they do not come with that Hero, or card.. But hey, I'm supposed to be able to deal with that? when I can in no way prepare a deck to fight against it? That means skill doesn't count.. but card drawing is everything, for luck to win. I'd not like to rely on luck.
- 8 years agoIn a sense, but that was a problem all the way back to when we were playing with physical cards.
The skill in these games has always been building a deck that have you the best chance of giving you useful cards, and knowing how to play the have your dealt.
The random nature keeps the game honest, in a sense. If we could all just stack our decks in the exact order we'd like, we'd be seeing the exact same games all the time. And while we would probably be seeing more skillful builds, the skill during the match would be brought to a halt.
It's a trade off
