I remember those times.. as I was playing then also..
But yes I think they did use those legendaries to be spawned in those incidents - why? because of Garg Feast, 3 powerful Zombies summoned perhaps the solution was to get 2 legendaries in that instance to fight back? So yes, I do believe that wasn't random, but programmed. Bit like what is happening elsewhere in the game. They the developers think they are balancing the game. But I don't think it is.. it brings in too much random, or (some call it luck) I call it, manipulation. I alter my deck due to the current meta being played - and then my opponent gets cards that no way did he have in his deck, as they do not come with that Hero, or card.. But hey, I'm supposed to be able to deal with that? when I can in no way prepare a deck to fight against it? That means skill doesn't count.. but card drawing is everything, for luck to win. I'd not like to rely on luck.
The skill in these games has always been building a deck that have you the best chance of giving you useful cards, and knowing how to play the have your dealt.
The random nature keeps the game honest, in a sense. If we could all just stack our decks in the exact order we'd like, we'd be seeing the exact same games all the time. And while we would probably be seeing more skillful builds, the skill during the match would be brought to a halt.
It's a trade off

No the random nature doesn't keep the game honest. It becomes a game of probability, as in 10 games you lose due to cards being drawn that were in neither deck. But, on the eleventh game your allowed to win as they want you to keep playing, but not win game after game. If you win game after game then, the game is over reaching the UL. Except they are happy to have UL playing in rank to make it harder for those climbing.
I'd be interested to know how many cards UL have, and the percentage of Legendaries, Super Rare's as well as what set's Colossal, Galactic, because my theory is that there are way more in UL with the biggest amount of newest cards.
- 8 years agoI know grinning has all cards that have been made available. I have most plants x4, but there are some I've only got two of. I generally have two or three full sets of legendaries in a deck...
That said, that's the nature of the beast.
Keep in mind, matchmaking isn't working like it should. The reason for ranks isn't for a ladder to climb and progression, it's to come up with fair matches. So while now it's definitely pay to win, it should be pay to play at a higher level.
To me random is what keeps it honest. The random nature has screwed me as much as it's given me the perfect card. Both sides do have them, so that unpredictable nature keeps the game interesting. Are some cards broken with certain decks? Absolutely, but the fact the same card these can give you something gamebreaking can also give you a *, is the balance - Anonymous8 years agoI have most colossal set now, not all, but enough that the last pack I got just for the heck of it was a spit in my face.
I had decided that I was done with colossal and crafting would be better than trying for a few and getting more fifth and sixths. I crafted an imitater as it was the last superrare set to finish(I have only 3 cursed Gargolith but I don't need a 4th) so anyways, I was getting some galactic packs and accidentally hit the single colossal pack and what did I get? Wanna guess? Of course I got an imitater....imagine that.
If trading was a possibility, I would probably still grab a pack pnce in awhile, but recycling already 2 Tricarrottops and 3 Tanklysauras is kind of maddening, so I am done with them.
Same with the first two sets, I have most but not all, and I don't even have all the rares in premium set....which baffles me.
How can I have only 3 whack a zombies(3 cost solar-destroy a zombie with 3 or less strength) and yet I have recycled a dozen bananasaurus?
There are decks that I play with barely any legendary, but if I am honest, it's a lot harder for me to hold off on the superrares. And I have said many times, when you are getting started, or have been playing for awhile but getting more cards is a slow process, try to craft some of the superrare and I guarantee you will not regret it. Just make sure on which works best in the most decks, your "staples" and stock up. Even if you only get three, so in case you do pull one in packs it isn't just 250 sparks. - 8 years ago
There’s only three plant cards I don’t have. The VAST majority of those I have acquired for free. I have spent maybe $50ish on this game since the start. Given the amount of time I’ve played it I 100% feel that I have gotten that value out of it. It takes time to grind gems but I usually get 1 thousand gem pack a week for free.
Speaking to the OP I think you’re overthinking it. The game’s random. You’re getting unlucky which happens, put the game down and come back later. Matchmaking by hero makes no sense. I’m sure there’s an algorithm to do what they can to match you to like levels but at a certain point if none are available they’ll grab what they can. Is what it is. From the posts I’ve seen of yours, you’re pretty down on this game thinking the devs and higher ranked players are out to screw you. Sorry, I just don’t agree. Also if you have a deck that you are losing 10 in a row with, it’s not the game that’s screwing you. Either you’re playing it wrong or the deck itself sucks.
@GrinningRuiner i think the reason you saw you saw the great zucchini so much at the begining was the lack of water plants. There were like 10 or 11 back the so your chances were pretty good.
The games random. Sometimes I. Your favor sometimes not.

I know the game evolves, so I do change my decks to suit. I don't keep a deck that is continuing to lose that would be foolish. I can't get a 1000 gem pack per week, I don't get the free gems from watching adverts, and I do every quest that comes in on time to get the maximum. So,for that reason along your lucky and I'm not. I've done a new deck to prove one of my points. I've a deck full of hard removal, conjuring, carddraw and that has been more successful. It gains cards I do not have in my deck from other suits. But as I said before these cards that I conjure aren't cards normally in my plant suit, so the opponent will not be expecting those. Also I notice, with a new deck I can win say about 10 games then suddenly its as if my opponent has learnt my cards and suddenly that deck is no longer winning, and I don't me just the odd game, but game after game. So it goes from win after win to loss after loss. I mention these things, as I see a pattern, and I don't believe in that many coincidences. If I did, I'd probably believe in unicorns. I will play as Zombie for a while, as that is easier to get the wins I want.
- Anonymous8 years ago@904e8d29c3cd2aa2 what he was talking about, it still happens, and it was the reason why(I believe at least) clique peas got so out of hand.
Still now when new cards are out like fraidy cat, every time I used that zombie supertrick summoning(put a max 2cost zombie in play) it was the cat. More often than not having citron or rose use their super transmogrification, same cat.
Obviously not every single time, but the majority of the time for sure.
And when you get an event card by tickets, and put it in a deck to play, how many times do you get that same only copy in your starting four? Not all the time, but enough for me to notice.
With clique peas when they first came out, I figure same thing, and that's why in the beginning it seemed like every second game you played, the megagrow hero has 3 clique peas on turn two....WTF and then after a while, it started to settle down, and then now.... I don't know what the actual eff...some people are sure happy, but many of them are the same group that are killing it with fossilhead, and will be crying again
