game balance and pacing

hello everyone i would like to hear from other people what they think about the pacing of the game, for me personally, i feel like the game favors rush decks and i will explain why.

First is the number of hp you possess compared to how big some cards can hit without even giving you the time to reply, here are some exemples : valkyrie, bananasaurus and some common cards as well can do alot of ridiculous amount of damage like threepeater with a buff on or even repeater and there is many more exemple of hard hitting cards.

the second reason is the block system, while being a very fun system i do believe it needs to be changed a little, it favors hard hitting character over small hitting ones since you will need more hit with small number you will prock the block faster and give free cards to the opponent, i believe there is 2 ways to fix it, either make it so the number of bars you get correspond with the damage taken so for exemple 1 dmg = 1 bar 2-4 = 2 bar and 5+ would be 3 bar. The other option would be to set a fixed amount but that would still make hard hitting cards better.

i am now at gold rank and most of the time a game doesnt last more than 6-8 turns. do you think its long enough? i personally dont. also i feel like there is a lack of good trick to be played and since this game doesnt features a summoner sickness (cannot attack the same turn a card is played) i think it should have more way for you to defend yourselfs other than by placing plants/zombies. so let me hear what you guys think!

  • Try gravestone/ deadly for zombies and freeze with plants.

    Gold league isn't very high up yet. Still easy to get rank. With a few lucky streaks, even not great players get there. So keep that in mind. It means 1. Some players will seem way stronger than others and 2. You're just starting to get into good decks.

    As you get more cards, build better decks, start managing your lanes better, playing stronger players and learning about the synergy in comboes; you'll start to see that there is a very good balance to this game. The problem is some of us have paid and some of us haven't, it's early on, the population can't quite handle the disparity in the ranks.

    I have very few matches that i cant honestly say that it was either a counter deck to mine, that i got outplayed or that i made a mistake that cost me.
  • I don't think the block system really needs to be changed.  If it was based on damage like you said, that would just favor lower-strength spam and make hard-hitters useless.  it's an endless cycle with no solution, so it may as well stay how it is now.

    Im a control player at heart and I relish in crafting new, different control decks to counter aggro decks. There is lots of room to do that in this game. Also what Daal said about disparity is true, with more time, things will mesh even more and it'll be less rough to ladder up.
  • i think my biggest problem with the game so far is with the plants lack of drawing cards.

  • also i might seems like the biggest sore looser here crying OP at everything but i do indeed play alot of cards game, so i admire new concept but saying that a newly out game is perfectly balanced to me seem unreasonable.

    No one is saying perfectly balanced.... we are saying its too early to tell. Some of you are crying there should be a limit on legendaries... well, i have a deck with 8 of them (banana and doubled) they synergize well with the rest of my deck. That deck still loses at a reasonable rate.

    How about we wait for high end decks to establish what works and wht doesnt instead of trying to balance the game around those who either dont have the cards or the knowhow to compete at a high level. (Not saying you, but most of the time it seems like "this card beat me, nerf it!)

    Thing is, there are counter decks, player skill and experience, amount of cards owned, luck of the draw, and lane placement/management all matter. Its too soon to talk balance. Right now talking broken is better (i.e. sgt strongberry infinite damage loop SHOULD activate and stop when the shield pops)

    The game has been out for more than 10 months. It's not exactly new.

    On ios.... which is a tiny base compared to what android brought to the table...
