Game crashing and returning to home menu
This has happened a few times Aleeady in the middle of any kind of battle the game would crash and go back to the xbox home screen.. and now the servers are out has been well over a hour..

There was an Update that was applied Today, which is why you may have experienced the Servers being down and/or the Game crashing.
Can you try clearing your MAC Address, and doing a hard reset on your Console to see if this clears up the issue?
Go to Settings, Network, Advanced Settings, Alternate MAC Address, and Clear. Then fully turn off your Console for 30 seconds or so, and turn it back on.
Also, highlight Battle for Neighborville on the Home Screen, go to Manage Game, and make sure everything is up to date.
