Game dont start pc

When I start the game for the first time it doesn't start, the screen stays black, with the sound of the game very choppy, and with a very low resolution and I can't do anything, and after a while it closes... My pc is a 10700k and a rx6800xt.

Hey, I know we're throwing a lot of steps out, but if the your issue persists after the steps above, can I double check that your system is using your dedicated GPU?

This should normally work without issue, but sometimes it just gets switched off. Can you check in your AMD Settings App > System > Switchable graphics for the option to set performance options for specific apps. In this case you'd find the PVZBattleforNeighborville.exe file and set it to high performance.

You can also double check the Windows setting. Right-click empty space on your desktop and choose Display settings. Now choose Graphics Settings under the Display tab, and browse for the game. Once you choose it you can set it to High Performance.

If none of this works, but you still have the issue, I wonder if you can start the game in Windowed mode.  You can press Alt & Enter to toggle windowed mode once the game starts.

Then you can open the Control Panel (press Ctrl, Shift & Escape together) and see if there's any resource that's being maxed out by the game.

Be sure to perform a Clean Boot before doing so to make sure there's no interference from other programs too. (For example on my own older system if I have too many youtube tabs open it drastically slows down the loading in times for a bunch of games, including BFN.)

Thanks for reading. Between both messages we've got a lot of things to try, but hopefully this moves us towards a resolution.

Hi @er_coje_aceituna Thanks for this, a few notes I see from the DxDiag

    1. To confirm are you running x2 AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT?
    2. I believe there has been an update to your GPU as it last one shows in Feb, 2022. Can you check here
    3. To check are you using 4 separate storage drives, or are you trying to run them in a RAID config?
    4. Under the windows error section, I'm seeing error CLR20r3, due to Corsair.Service.DisplayAdapter to check do you have something like iCUE or another cosair program installed?
      1. If so try repairing or reinstalling it

Aside from the above we can also go through the following steps to see if anything changes as well:

    • Run System File Checker tool
    • Repair PvZ VC++
      • You should find a VC installer in the game install location ([installed drive] > PvZ > _installer > Reddist > Run all found here they may be in separate folders.
    • Check for Windows
    • Reset Windows Host File
    • Run Origin and PvZ as an administrator (by right-clicking desktop icons and selecting 'run as admin")
  • I only have one gpu, I don't have a raid, the icue is simply disabled, I'm not using it, I updated driver and obviously nothing, I reinstalled the vc and obviously nothing, Run System File Checker tool and nothing, I ran it and more of the same, black screen in low resolution and the game cursor and that's it.

Hi @er_coje_aceituna Thanks for going through that with me, I can pass on what we are seeing for the team to be aware of.

out of curiosity can you create a local windows admin account and check if the same thing happens there as well? Also, I had assumed this bit, but is the date/time correct on the PC, and do you use a VPN at all when playing?

  • ou yess, I think the problem was that it was starting in windowed mode and something was wrong with that, when I pressed Alt & Enter to toggle windowed mode, then I could see the game perfectly, and I have entered the lobby and adjusted the settings to full screen and 1080p and now without any problems, thanks to all!!!! @EA_David @EA_Illium
