@Sinistar83 Thank you for the update, I'm not aware of any changes made, I think this is some obscure (but clearly not obscure enough) local issue. Does the Clean Boot mentioned above help at all with stability on Unyielding Gnight?
Fresh reboot, then only opened up Origin, launched PvZ then got the black screen, then several moments later got the easy anti-cheat untrusted system file amdihk64.dll error again.

Thank you. Do you have AMD Adrenaline installed? If so can you try a clean install of the software?

@EA_David yes in Reply #21 on this thread 3 weeks ago I mentioned I did a clean install of Adrenaline drivers I am on v19.11.1 now and it didn't really help.
I've tried tweaking the video settings to no avail in Options > Video > Graphics Quality > Auto Detect. Even tried lowering it to low, and even running in windowed mode 1600 x 900 and toggling V-Sync but didn't seem to help with the lag
The last patch today made it worse.
The lag is so bad sometimes for example in Giddy park when using the boost pads to go from the P or Z side down to the Park, it lags in the air so your character never makes it to the other side and lands and dies in the 'void' area in between, or even when holding shift to run/boost when playing the game normally the character will just stop boosting for no reason.
I don't think it's my ISP. Speed test from just now was 334 Mpbs download and 32 Mbps upload. I also ran the UOTrace.exe program as listed here https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/connection-troubleshooting-basic/#testconnection and the trace route was good, average 73 ms out of 120 packets and only 3 x 100% packet loss when it went to the zayo.com domain.
Uploading dxdiag to see if it will help any.
Thanks again.

The 100% packet loss isn't something to worry about, it just means that node didn't respond. As long as you have subsequent hops with 0% loss then the connection test looks good.
If you play in Windowed and monitor performance as you play, can you identify any bottlenecks when issues come up? - 6 years ago@EA_David so does my system specs and settings look ok in dxdiag?
I can try running in windowed mode and monitor performance. What program do I need to run alongside the game to see where the bottlenecks are when it freezes?
FWIW the other day I did try the Unyielding Gnight gnome boss with someone on my friends list, and the game did a hard freeze for both of us at the exact same time. We both had to end via task manager.
If it was an issue on my system only then technically he should have still been in the game and I could have rejoined his session. But since it froze for both of us I think it's an issue with the game still? Going to see if I can attempt with another friend or two at the same time.
This is very frustrating. - EA_David6 years ago

Yep those specs look fine. There are some newer drivers available for your graphics card, but they wouldn't be critical, what you have are fine for now.
That it's crashing for both of you is interesting. It's possible a crash on your side could lead to some bad info going to his instance of the game, but that'd be pretty unusual.
As for monitoring, you can try by using the Task Manager's Performance tab and the Resource Monitor. There are far more advanced tools out there, but for some quick checking these will suffice. You can open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl, Shift and Esc simultaneously, and you can open the Resource Monitor from within the Performance tab.
I do wonder if there's some strange conflict of effects going on. Can you take any customisations off your character and see if that has any impact? If the crash disappears, I'd be very interested in what customizations were active.
Thanks.
