Gameplay discussion:remaining scientist and all star variants

Marine biologist

Almanac:

The Marine Biologist and his Dolphin Zombie Companion are a dangerous pair. They are able to effectively spray fish innards with an almost unmatched style and effectiveness.

100 health.

Uses Dolphin Blaster. It fires more rapidly than other semi automatic Scientist variants and deals 10 impact damage at long range and 20 impact damage at close range. At point blank range, his weapon deals 25 spread damage.

Uses genetically modified fish food according to gw1 upgrades.

Throws a fish cracker up in the air, and the dolphin then eats it to reload.

Dolphin makes noises when shooting and reloading.

According to the Zoologist's Stickerbook description, the Marine Biologist was taught marine biology at "Zomboss' Marine Biology and Fish Sticks Academy" and that they were fierce rivals.

Archaeologist

Almanac: On July 17th, 1893 he discovered the first ever complete Chomposaurus Rex skeleton. On July 18th he forgot where he left it. He made it farther than paleontologist Atleast.

100 health.

Excavator. It has a larger clip size (which is 12 ammo by default and 15 when upgraded), a faster fire rate and longer range but deals remarkably less damage. It will also make loud noises.

The Excavator has a strange damage range, dealing 12-15 damage at mid and long range, about 15-22 damage at close range and about 27-33-49-51 damage at extreme close range.

Had a backpack full of treasure that ocassionally falls out that makes up his ammo supply.

According to gw1 he smashes the treasure to make more ammo out of it.

He was introduced in zomboss down which brought cactus canyon which has a massive tunnel with a chomposaurus skeleton in the wall most likely his backstory one just like the motel with bandit cactus.

Rugby star

Almanac: The Rugby Star dreams of being permanently stuck in a scrum. It's the closest thing he's found to the smell of Brainz.

200 health.

Uses the Rapid Fire Rugby Launcher which deals 9 to 14 critical damage and can deal splash damage.

The maximum number of shots the Rugby Star can shoot from his weapon before the weapon overheats is 30.

Wrestling star

Almanac:

His Super-Driving-Sleeper-Lunge move is trademarked and cannot be used, mentioned, or other wise copied in any way without his express permission

.

200 health.

Uses the Piledriver. It has a significantly bigger damage drop-off than the Football Cannon over range and fires 50% slower, but has a higher damage ramp-up at close range dealing up to 15 damage unupgraded. The max number of shots the Wrestling Star can deal before the weapon overheats is 24.

Shoots action figures. Gw1 says they increase in damage because he stopped buying from a cheap knockoff supplier.

The gw1 upgrades also state he has a personal trainer who regulates his overheat control training.

You can hear fans cheering in the background when firing and when you overheat you can hear the round ending bell.

Moto-X star

Almanac:

The Moto-X Star is dirty, even by the zombies' admittedly low standards. After the incident we shall not speak of, his Dirt Devastator is absolutely not allowed inside of Dr. Zomboss' factory.

200 health.

Uses the dirt devastator which deals 2-3 damage and also deals 1-2 splash damage. The Dirt Devastator has the ability to disable a plant's abilities and attack with mud.

He actually moves faster without firing than even tennis star.

Only all star to wear no shoes at all.

Tennis star

Almanac: "

Tennis Star is a prodigy of sorts. As a young Zombie, he witnessed Dr. Zomboss lose a fight with a tennis ball machine, and he knew he had to harness such immense and hilarious power for himself. Now he wanders the land, shooting tennis balls at everything he sees, quietly giggling under his breath."

200 health.

He moves faster than other all stars regularly and only slows down 25% when shooting which makes him much faster.

Uses double fault assault.

The close range base damage per hit is 6 and the critical is 7.

The mid-range base damage per hit is 5 and critical is 6.

The long-range base damage per hit is 4 and the critical is 5.

Marine biologist can be a pain to fight but I like his dolphin and it's noce to see them after pvz1 again.

I didn't like archaeologist at first until I realizes he's the jack of all trades but master of none scientist.

Rugby star is fine.

Wrestling star is fun and I like his cheering fans.

Moto-X star stopping abilities is extremely useful when fighting someone about to escape with their powers.

I love tennis star. His speed change completely changes the way all star interacts with the battlefield and it's great.

  • I want to preface this with; are the forums weird for anyone else? Ever since later yesterday they are very odd, the GW2 ones are even worse.

The Marine Biologist is my favorite scientist since I unlocked him in GW. Using a dolphin as a gun? Yes, please. Great character, even if he might be overshadowed by the computer scientist, and in is that group with the chemist and zoologist.

Archaeologist is underrated in my opinion. He's kind of a goto for me as he performs better at medium range than most other scientists. I know he's not well loved though. It is fun getting on the podium with him, but I like doing that with underrated characters like AC Perry and Rock Pea too.

Rugby Star is one of those variants that gets 'lost' in the shuffle. Nothing amazing, nothing bad.

Wrestling Star is apparently considered a weaker variant. I've always liked him though. Fun fact; when I first got GW on PC, I bought one of the character packs right away, and he was the first variant I unlocked.

Moto-X Star Is great for shutting down abilities like burrow and EMPeach, even if only briefly. Fun variant.

Tennis Star got nerfed pretty early on but like you, I really like this one. He's my goto All-Star for the target range quest.

@Iron_Guard8 They're wierd for me too. General discussion doesn't show up as a category anymore and all the old posts are back at the front page.

The dolphin gun noises give me life.

Archeolgist is underrated but I get why other people prefer the more hardlined scientists for long range or close range.

Rugby star is in the paradox where he's meant for players who can't aim yet every other all star goes against this philosophy. Good character though.

Wrestling star is fun but I won't deny that he's not the most effective all star. Better at close range.

Moto-X star being able to shut down abilities is a blessing when fighting spammy peashooters.

Tennis star really highlights what differining speed values do to a character and being able to almost normally walk around while firing as an all star enhances the firefights as you can dodge much easier.
