Solved

Garden Ops isn't working.

Over the last four months I have not been able to access the Garden Ops mode in PvZ Garden Warfare.  I've reported this to EA and they logged an issue and were supposed to get back to me (b/c a tech support rep witnessed the issue when trying to launch multiple games with me), however, have yet to respond.

Description

Any attempt to launch a game in garden ops or with or a party results in the following messages

first... Match Making looking for really great game sessions

then... Joining a Server (the message flashes by so quickly I can't catch it all) something about connecting to a great session

ending in... ERROR:  Your connection to the session has been lost.

this happens no matter how I attempt to connect to Garden Ops (whether I lauch or am invited to a game, search or create a match).

EA has offered very little support on the matter and has suggested this could be due to AT&T blocking ports: AT&T denied this was an issue; My partner confirmed this is not an issue as he followed EAs suggestion and tried setting ports up for the game (this resulted in some of our other items breaking, but didn't solve the issue).

Has anyone else experienced this problem?  I am still able to compete in the multi player mode.. but nothing else

Having the same problem very frequently, for every 10 garden ops I tried May be 1 will be able to connect. Not sure of what the problem is, but sometimes even I am in the match I still being kick out due to this issue.
  • What are your NAT settings? And are you able to Host a game without issue? Are people able to join your game?

The problem with Garden Ops is, the player you're joining is the Host - and if their connection/settings are wonky you will have latence or problems connecting.

If you're disconnected mid match with the message "Your connection to the session has been lost.", most often this is due to the hosting player leaving. Since there is no host migration, all client players in that lobby will be disconnected.

    Hello Overclockd Toastr,

I actually attempted to host a game and invite one of the EA reps into it.. he attempted to invite me into a game he was hosting as well.  During both attempts, I was pushed out of the game.. and given the ERROR message.  I have had success if playing garden ops in the past and the only thing that has changed since the last time I played (as far as I know) is an update to the game..

As for the NAT settings.. I will look into it once I return home and share then

In these cases the EA rep's NAT settings would also be taken into account.

To all having this issue.. Overclockd's advice about the NAT settings seemed to be key in resolving this.  After seeing his post, I reviewed my setup and ended up reaching out to Microsoft to modify my NAT settings to Open (vs. Moderate or Strict).  Microsoft pointed out there were some challenge with the modem/router I used (supplied by my internet service provider)... they walked me through a process to modify the settings on the modem/router that resulted in my NAT settings to Open.

Unfortunately, I don't understand all of the techinal aspects of the changes made.. but just wanted to share that this was key to being able to launch Garden Ops (which I'm now successfully connecting to).

    Thanks Overclock!!!
