I would love to play GW2, but I was told to hit max rank/level in GW1 first to get the Unicorn chomper and to do it before 2017...so I need any and all help trying to grind my way to max level, please.
Also, if I get GW2 now and play it, get my rewards from GW1, but then go back to number 1 to hit max rank, would I still get the Unicorn?
You can play without importing your GW1 information, I bought GW2 first and got the original game from Origin Access, I'm slowly grinding my way up on the original and I just haven't imported to GW2, its an option in the mailbox.

You can import your GW1 progress into GW2 on a daily basis, every 24 hours.
So you can either unlock all the characters in GW1 and import them to GW2 and continue to grind away to unlocking the rest, or you can start playing GW2, unlock them all in here and then play GW1 a few times a week for the next year until you reach 313 for Unicorn Chomper.
I would suggest, obviously doing what you want to do, first and foremost but only your characters and abilities from GW1 will transfer, not any customisations or progress. Coins are so much easier to farm in GW2 that I would highly suggest that you play it and unlock everything in this one, if you're deciding between the two.
GW1 is a painful challenge grind, and the more challenges you do, the less skip stars you'll need to skip the ones you don't want to do.
I did hear about GW2 being much better then GW1 at acquiring coins and such and just makes me want to play GW2 even more!...but playing GW2 won't help me unlock that Unicorn chomper... Any info on what mode to play or what sticker packs to buy?
Also I forgot to ask, but if I have GW1 on PC but then buy GW2 on X-box or PS, will I be able to transfer GW1 stuff into GW2 still IF I linked my PSN or X-box accounts to Origin?
