Garden Warfare in 2019 - Split Screen/2 Player Questions

Hey, people.  I just got this for my son's 9th birthday today and he's seriously digging it a lot.  We've been loving the heck out of GW2 so much that he wanted to go back and try the first one.

That said, we were able to play together in split screen mode, but as with GW2, I was not able to collect coins, level characters, etc.  We resolved the problem in GW2 by me creating my own XBox account and I was able to enjoy all of the fruits of my labors the game had to offer.  I don't know if this game allows the same thing but thus far we've been unsuccessful in adding me in as a friend or via an invite while we are on the Xbox together.  I searched through some pages of the forum here and even tried to keyword a topic previously discussed and didn't come up with my particular problem.  If this has already been discussed - sorry for the post, but I could not find anything dealing with this.

Just looking for a solution so that I can join in and reap the rewards as well.  Thanks in advance for any responses.

  • @AgentRaygun66 Hi, don't know if you're still looking for an answer or will see this after so much time since your post!
GW2 has excellent split-screen for all modes but the older, original game only allows it in a form of Ops.
I remember when my son & I played together, we just had to play the one profile, making a game of passing the controller over to the other each time we died!
I'm afraid the only way you could play together the way you want, is for you to each be on separate consoles.

@ToastedSarnie Thanks for the reply.  I was afraid this side of the forum was dead.  I had a feeling GW1 WAS exactly as you said it is and so we will have to play it just like that.  I can log in under my own name as time allows and gain progress from that.  It's still a fun game, even if we can only play together on the Ops side of things and my son enjoys it, so it was still a worthwhile purchase.  Again, thanks for the response.
