You're correct that some of the maps aren't showing up at the moment, but hopefully that'll be fixed along with the crashes.
- I believe the plants losing doesnt really relate to their under/over powered ness, but more to the fact that more frequently than not the plants are out numbered. After playing mostly GnG since launch, recently I've noticed the plants have been short by 2-3 players. Due to the lack of team mates even having a party of experienced players wont be able to hold off a zerg of mediocore Zombies.
This doesnt happen as often in Team Vanquish, so its fairly safe to say the teams are pretty balanced.
