Getting those prize bulbs

Without using any exploits or anything too onerous, I wanted to give people some encouragement and to ideas to get those bulbs without spending rainbow stars (disclaimer: I did buy bulbs to unlock the wizard early, but no one should feel compelled to do so). I normally get the map done and store 50 of them for the next month about the last week of the map's timeline, so not too tight, but not very early, so hopefully this will help people get the map done in a comfortable amount of time.

None of these methods require tacos or anything out of the ordinary, I felt this was the most crucial part, this is meant to help more casual players.

If I miss something, feel free to add to this post!

  • Ops: Seriously just play some Ops. At 5 waves they are usually about 15 minutes each and without level up I get roughly 2 bulbs for 3 ops or so. You get a fair amount of XP from these if you're active and some characters like Rose can get a ton, just throw goatify into a horde of browncoats and watch that XP fly in.
  • Level Up upgrade: This may be obvious, but 10% extra XP for everything you do can certainly help. I took it off all my characters as they're all Grand Master 1s right now but my Wizard has it. Instead of 5000 XP you'd have 5500 for the same game play. Some of the rounding may be a bit funny but it's still useful.
  • Skirmishes: While it can take some time to get this going, you can get 500 XP from the battle leader and 1000 for the skirmish boss and that's without the level up upgrade and not including all the AI you'll be getting XP for as well.
  • Battle Chests and PvP matches: You can generally get a lot in PvP matches, based on your performance and match length, but if you're less of a PvP fan or if you want to work a little faster, the battle chests, especially the lower difficulty ones, can give a lot of XP as you vanquish AI after AI and some of the other aspects can give a lot of XP, like grabbing orbs in vanquish confirmed.
  • Daily Challenges: Usually I get an extra bulb while working on these due to XP and they give 2 bulbs as well when you get them both done as well. Remember that if you get one you don't like you can reroll one per day. Try to do these every day and you'll get a lot of bulbs each month.
  • Character Challenges: These have been slowly improved, for example the 80s action hero challenge for rocket ride is no longer 3 heroes with one ride but is now just get multi-vanquishes with one ride, making it easier to get as it works on weeds and other NPCs. You can get 15 bulbs plus usually at least one other bulb for raw XP, for doing all these as you get 2 per challenge and 5 for getting them all done, plus of course that hat for doing them all.A

As I posted yesterday, I still would love to donate my extra bulbs to people as they aren't doing anything and I always slow down my play at the end of the month right now, if they could be given to people to help out, I'd feel that my bulbs aren't lost anymore, but would keep people playing by having them given to players that need them.

I hope this helps, I try to avoid any gimmicks like that plunger quest as I don't want to rely on spending currency or weird tricks that they've clamped down on. You can just play normally, although focusing on certain activities over others, and get the map done by the end of the month, it's even easier if you don't care about storing 50 bulbs for the following month. Get out there and get those bulbs!
