How do I make my FPS more stable in Plants VS Zombies Garden Warfare?

A few days ago, around Wednesday, I was playing the game perfectly, at around 50 FPS full screen. But when I tried to play the game today and yesterday, the FPS was very choppy, with many extreme lag spikes. I ran a bunch of scans and tried to fix the problem, but nothing worked.

Graphics Information:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 940M 2GB Graphics Card

1000 GB Storage

8 GB RAM

Windows 8 OS

Core i5 Dual Core 2.2 GHz

For those games played on various local players' systems, the only certain way to eliminate the lag from players with poor connections to to host all of those games you play.

An Optimus from nVIDIA is often reluctant to go to work in EA's games.  Here's a link to follow to learn more:

Once you have the Geforce Control Panel sorted out, you may want to test the game using a Clean Boot procedure to see if you have something incompatble among your background processes.

  • My FPS just bounces around like crazy, one second at 50 FPS and another at 10 FPS. Is there any way to stabilize this?

  • I didn't read the last part of your reply, thanks! It runs perfectly at around 55 FPS now!

When I added the comment initially, I didn't include any reference link, nor a mention of WHY it's helpful to test that way.
