Using solar flare strikethrough. It has a nice win rate but most importantly, the games are very quick, so I could grind faster. However, at rank 38, I am starting to lose momentum.
The leagues are designed to slow down your ranking, you're not losing momentum it's all just in your head...
Taco League is the worse man, good luck! 😢
Yes of course you need good cards, but you still need to know how to play, how to plan ahead, what cards to swap and how to completely nullify your opponents hero powers as much as possible and that just comes with experience and skill/memory.
I didn't spend a penny and I've got to the Ultimate League in 2-3 weeks. Sure I saved my gems to buy the premium pack bundles and then I just used and played the cards dealt to me, opened almost 70 Premium packs and only got one new Hero which sucked.
A general tip I can share with you is, try and use 2 of every decent card that you have available to you, if the card is extremely good then use 4. This should allow you to get close to 40 cards to an extent, then look and make sure you have a mixture of cards in terms of cost. Try and put in a few high cost cards which can turn the game around if you have them available to you.
During each game, pay attention to the cards you feel are working well for you, and which cards seem mediocre, filling your hand and just sitting there not doing much. Consider removing these completely for the cards that worked for you.
Your play style matters to what deck you build and use. It is a mistake to just play someone's deck and play because you may need to hold onto certain cards in order to win, but a new player won't know anything about it because they didn't make it.
You will have a lot more fun ranking up knowing you built the deck yourself, tweak it between games if you got completely smashed to give yourself motivation and excitement going into the next game and over time you'll have a very strong deck. Any good player should give you similar advice.

@Zaheen1337 I think we're playing different games. 2-3 weeks? It can not be true. Or it was before the global release.

I am not entirely sure which day I installed the game but why would I lie? It's after the global release, I haven't spent a penny and I hit Ultimate League last week.
I also got Rank 313 in PvZ Garden Warfare in between the GW2 open beta and release, which was less than a month. That was really something...
I have recently got a new phone so I can't confirm the installed date of the app due to that, sadly... 🤔
Edit: But I can check on my iPad, but even then I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game about 20 times to try and get the costume set in PvZ GW2 but they still haven't come. Best I could do is get someone from EA to tell me which day I installed it or played first just to prove to you I've done it? Seems like too much effort...

Lets call it 3-4 weeks then, assuming I've played every single day (which obviously I haven't). My mistake.

@Zaheen1337 I'm not saying that you're lying, I'm only saying that I find it hard to believe. I would like to have statistics in this game. You must have a terrific winrate. I can only be envious such a game.

I don't know which cards is really working. I just haven't beat level 4 with the my own deck but someone's deck did.
saving certain cards won't work since your opponent plays freaking OP cards like super rares, pea pods.

again, in CCG, you need to consider many factors when building a deck, so I start there first (posted this a few times)
1. Where do you plan to be strong.
A: Based on the cards available, you look to figure out a deck that is strong at some point during the game. I like to use a power point metaphor for this explanation. Essentially, you have 10 power points, and you can distribute it however you want during early, mid, and late game. (early in this CCG is prolly 1-3, mid is 4-7, and 8+ is late). So if you want a power early deck, you can do a 6/3/1 distribution, where you aim to finish the game around 6-8 turns. Chompzilla is a hero that favors late game, so a 1/3/6 distribution is a likely deck build. you can also think of it as %of your deck that fits those curves
2. What are your winners
A: For example, which cards do you want dealing the damage. This is important to consider for PVZ Heroes because of the shield mechanic. A fast rush deck will seek to have everyone dealing damage, and they don't care about how many superpowers they get. While a slow deck will look to build really big creatures, and finish the opponent in 5 or 6 shots. Which cards are important, and which are not. Here is a fact that you probably didn't know, blackeyed bean is actually one of the strongest card in the game because of his versatility. If put into an early game deck, you can use it to put on early pressure, and prevent tricks from being played. If you put in a late game deck, you can use it as an insurance policy for when you put down a tough beet or power flower. If the zombie wants to play tricks on the big creature it boosts the blackeyed bean. So the card can be a main player in a fast deck, or a support player in a late game deck. So consider your winners carefully.
3. Which cards you looking for in your starting hand vs which matchup
A: A lot of games are won and lost at the mulligan, so DO IT CAREFULLY. When deck building, you need to think about the key cards that give you advantages in a the early game in each matchup. When i Play the chomper, I always roll for at least one whack-a-zombie
There are obviously more strats than these 3, but these 3 are really good points in building a solid deck. I hope this can help you rank up a little.

spending money will not equal winning. I've spent $2.39 on this game, and i'm at level 48.

Pea Pod? Seriously? On round 1 alone, it can be killed by:
Dogwalker
Nibble
Rolling Stone
Bungee Plumber
Electro Bolt
Stayin' Alive
Slammin' Smackdown
Not to mention Deadly, Bouncing, Cut Down To Size, Locust Swarm, and Rocket Science in case you don't have ANY of those cards.
