How Do You Play Party Citron?

I haven't really played as any of the other citrons or party characters, so in both cases, he's my first real experience. And I'm having a hard time using him effectively. When I'm in close combat, even though I have 200 health, in like 2-3 hits I'm dead. And when I'm far away using my spray, it's barely doing any damage. I'll see one little hit point after the other coming off, so it's taking forever to whittle anyone down let alone kill them. So I end up dying a lot and getting very few kills.

So how can I be effective with this character???? 🤐

I wrote a way to long post on how to play as Citron, it includes every trick I know after playing the Citron for 60 hours. If you want to be effective with Party Citron, I suggest to: prioritise squishy classes, get to an elevated position and use the splash damage if your primary and stay in mid-ranged gunfights. If you get into Party mode, he becomes far better and you can 1v1 everybody, including every Z-Mech fairly easy. Also, if you use Hyper while you're in Party mode, you get the highest possible speed in the game.
Otherwise, I do have some general facts that will improve your game with every Citron.
    1. Do not trust the damage numbers. Currently, the damage numbers for Party and default Citron show their splash and direct hit damage separetly. Citron can deal a maximum damage of 11-9 points of damage without upgrade, while the Party Citron does 9-7 points of damage. The damage for Power Citron's charged shot is affected by RNG, so don't expect it to be super consitent and Iron Citron deals 25 points of damage over long range, but the game states that it does 24 points of damage.
    2. Peel Shield. The Peel Shield won't block splash damage or Flameface's piercing rounds. It can however soack up a lot of damage over range and it is a live saver against Scientists. It can also prevent Electro Brainz's lazer from arking to your team mates.
    3. Disable your enemy. We all know that the EMPeach stuns your opponent and leaves him vunerable, but the Spin Dash can diable every currently used ability and prevent your enemy from using his remaining abilities.

He's arguably the worst citron variant. You're best off using his EMPeach and his ball attack. Other than that... He kinda sucks. Not that any of the other citrons are overwhelmingly good by any means. (See Iron Citron)
  • What I did when I played as the party citron was turn into a ball, use the speed boost, spin into a zombie, jump and turn to attack form, and shoot the zombies after that. This is a great strategy because the zombies usually can't aim. You can also try climbing objects because the laser has splash damage.

Party Citron is just horribly bad with that 2 à 4 damage. Even if you manage to get the party mode enabled, it's still very mediocre. Just does not do enough damage to be relevant in comparison to the other citrons that are very strong if you use it right..

  • Party characters are basically causal variants for a more lighter single player experience. If you decide to take ANY of these classes into multiplayer, well you'll understand....

What do you mean? I get the top score using this character its just a matter if you can aim and if you have skill. I gotten party mode like 7 times with this weak character. Yes its hard to get the 5 vanquishes for party mode but when I do I usually end up with a streak more than 10.

@ShavedThronel0  all i'm saying is that they require a different level of "patience" or skill, that I personally lack, in order for the Party variants to compete with the regular classes. Yes you can be great with any class, but the extra effort it takes to get there, it is just not worth it for me. They are still weak and need to be addressed properly.

I have mastered the normal and Ice Citron. As well as almost mastered Iron Citron and ranked up Party Citron a few times. Party Citron is pretty hard to be effective with in multiplayer. His damage is so low. You kind of have to stay back and snipe with him. You get a lot of assists and a few kills here or there. You really don't want to be fighting up close with any citron really. Use EMPeach as a means to get out of a bad up close situation like a Super Brainz spin attack or Impkata attack.

for the person who mentioned Iron Citrons short comings, I have to disagree with you. Again, he is a long to medium range fighter. His single shot Mech Breaker is a sniping machine. I constantly am picking off imps and scientists. I can usually even crush up close fighters like Super Brainz by EMPeaching them and then hitting them for 50 damage 4 times. Plus when you get into Iron Mode, Iron Citron really shines. I can take out a whole bunch of characters really quickly.

I don't even have the second reload up grade yet. I am not trying to sound like am am talking down to anyone, but in order to be good with iron citron, your aim has to be spot on in most cases. No spray and praying.

Oh also, Ice Citron is amazing. Especially once you get the freeze and overheat upgrades.

Yeah, It's a character that is decent as a support role, but isn't very good when your team sucks and you need to push the team forward by yourself..

I just played a round with party citron, got top of the board with 49 kills but everytime I got to 4-5 kills, there were several zombies flanking and just couldn't make use of the party mode (team only had one other good player, rest were not good)..

It's just underpowered in comparison to the other citrons. They didn't think it through. A character that does 2 to 4 damage at any range without an extra effect (like fire, toxic etc) is just bad by design.

The party citron used to do up to 6 damage without party mode and up to 9 damage with party mode.. Why they ever thought a -50% base damage drop would be a good choice is beyond me..
