how to change the "appearance" of the characters

Put in the game for instructions how to change the "appearance" of the characters (flaming cactus; toxic pea, etc.)... I had to look on the internet how to make (scrolls up and down on the screen cha...

There are arrows pointing Left/Right on character select allowing you to select the different variants of each character class. Upon selecting the character, you're able to choose "Customize Appearance" and from there you may apply various Hats/Tattoos/etc.
