Battle for Neighborville was fun for a few weeks, but this was the least time I have ever played a single game before leaving it. It has little variation between games with similar, claustrophobic maps and all of the same boring characters without variants.I don't know, I might return someday. When I first played GW2, I hated it, because the new characters felt like they ruined all the other characters and the maps felt like they were made just for the new 6. I went back to GW1 for a bit, played some other games, and tried GW2, and had fun. I now enjoy it. Maybe BfN will end up like GW2, or it will stay my 2nd least favorite game of all time.

Change is always a challenge, a difficult balance, especially in the gaming world. With a good franchise like PVZ you want to create something new but familiar, you don't want the fans complaining that its a rehash of older games but you also don't want to alienate the fans with something too different. In a new game when you change something that worked really well in previous games you better make sure it works as well or even better. Thats where I struggle with BfN, there are a lot of changes, some work but some do not and to top it off as it sits right now I have to agree that it makes it hard to want to jump back in. I probably shouldn't make this comparison but it reminds me of Star Wars Battlefront. At first it was awesome but very limited, after some time a year or so it finally became a feature filled game but by the time they really had it figured out they released SWBF2 and changed everything that had worked so well in the first one. I also think that if you are going to completely get rid of variants you should introduce or at least tease a lot more new characters.

@CRAAAZZYChomper Same here, I so love GW1 that no matter what they did in GW2 i was bound to hate it. I slowly got used to GW2 but I think i still love the first one best. The look, the variants, it was just fun. Since BFN came out, I realized what a jewel GW1 and 2 really are. I believe the lack of variants is going to end my playing with BFN as well. Think about your play time on GW1, there's no way i'd still be playing that without the variants, making every match new and unique. I realize BFN is not a Garden Warfare title, but that doesn't mean we can totally see this as a brand new game, we remember what we had in 1 and 2, and miss it.

I am going to wait till the full game is out to rate the good, bad, and ugly.

Disappointing to say the least. I was hoping for some actual changes that improve the game with this latest patch, unfortunately that isn’t the case. EA and Popcap rather beat the whole Fortnite tree to death with another’s knockoff rather then actually listen to their fan base. BFN is seriously lacking in many areas and the mechanics make it awful to try and play. The delays that have been added to everything is beyond irritating. Holding square for everything is frustrating when you are trying to battle. It seems that the only thing they won’t put a delay on is running, which desperately needs it. Playing on behemoth sized maps without a delay in running makes this a game of chase rather than a tactical game. The hit boxes in some cases are off the characters completely and once more, inaccurate at that. Even the pvm is horrid, zero consistency in play. Some plants take 3x’s as much damage to kill as Super Brains while others seemingly fall over with the slightest glance. The pvp is just as bad, though at least you can blame that on those that use modded controllers and exploits. There is absolutely no excuse for the pvm to be as inconsistent as it is. This is game seems rushed since beta testing and no amount of junk customizations will make the game play better. I’m sure we are about 3 weeks away from micro transactions and EA and Popcap laughing all the way to the bank. This game may be the end of the PvZ franchise sadly. I will hold out hope for change, though it seems I have a better chance of personally meeting the Easter bunny for dinner.
