If your using an all star against a pesky chomper with a health upgrade it can be useful. Between the future dummy and punt it will deal enough damage to vanquish them.
They're situational for sure. You can have 2 up at once but the cooldown means you can only place 1 at a time. They're much better against AI opponents, especially the melee ones, as they tend to beat on them and then are vanquished when they explode. Players will usually find them less of an issue though.
If your budget is tight, you can skip them. If you're ok on cash and/or you're like me and must have all the things, go ahead and grab it.
