Is the use of emulators to farm gems in PvZH against the ToS?

I've heard people all over Reddit using emulators to get thousands of gems from watching ads everyday. Is this against the terms of service, such as the part which states "Use exploits, cheats, undocumented features, design errors or problems in an EA Service?

^ as stated above, emulators and multiple devices are acceptable. Editing the actual game files is not.
changing time on your device is also allowed (though I don't know if that even works anymore)

One of the developers said on Reddit that as long as you are manually controlling each device(tablet, phone, emulator), you can use as many as you want.
You are not allowed to use any automated tools.
