Also, this post is about a card, not a combo. “Always OP” is worse than “OP in combination with X.”
Lol. We have caveats here? You’re trying to compare apples to oranges because of the way the turn base system works in this game.
- 8 years agoNo. I’m comparing apples to multiple apples. If a card is OP in isolation, that’s a problem. If two cards have synergy that is OP that’s less of a problem, because you still need both cards at the same time and the resources to play them.
You don’t want to start a metaphor battle with me, bro. I will eat your metaphors for breakfast. - 8 years agoOne last argument, because I’m on a roll and it’s past my bedtime (hey. You don’t know where I live.). According to the PvZ heroes internal statistics, the split between Plants/Zombies is 51/49. They won’t say who’s ahead, but I know at least 49% of the population agrees with me that it’s probably the plants.

Pointless argument with someone who’s mind is made up. As well it’s been what, 3 days? Maybe we should give it a couple weeks before we make up our minds? Look no further than the amount of nerfs in the last update to see which side was “OP”. If you can’t draw a reasonable conclusion from that then...

Seems normal to me
Zombie here and next door gets -2 and destroy those who have 0. So, you only can destroys zombies who have +2 originally. That for 4 suns.
But, Weed Spray, the same behaviour, destroy all plants (all lanes), that have +2 originally, for 3 brains (and destroys plants like Pecanolith who cost a lot of sun). How convenient that this trick doesn't bother ... ¿uh? Both super rare.
With so many uncontrolled zombies and with great powers ( please don't make me name them), now it seems that this trick is a problem and need to be modified? 🤨 really?
this trick came precisely to control those decks of imps and others, remember what the ''Announcements'' said: ''Accordingly, based on card win rate data'', they revealed something that many of us already knew, they get the information of the most played cards, and also those that are least played, (Haunting Zombie for example, it was so little played, that they made a change) the developers noticed how these decks are played again and again, so when you fall in love with a deck, and you plays it many times, prepare to see a card in an upcoming set that will control that deck and reduce that win rate, like this card, that for my opinion, It's not a big deal, is a hindrance if you struggle against gargantuar for example, it's a problem to spend 4 suns on that.
I want a change for Mustache Monument (1/ ¿¿5?? ) :P , but I don't need to ask, is in ALL my games, every time I play against someone, place this card, the players will ruin this card themselves from using it so much 🤐 as it happened with nebula, Escape Through Time, etc.
well I gave you a suggestion, if you want a change in that card, play that card a lot, and make it a lot of publicity xD
- 8 years agoIt’s a weed spray plus three zombie landscapers. That sounds more like four super rare to me. Plus, its the only card I can think of that plants play that can shrink... which used to be a zombie thing.
Can you imagine a zombie card that could hide behind another zombie card and generate brains? How about a zombie with splash damage 6 or one with double strike, or one which ate all of the plant’s sun? - 8 years agoThe kill after the shrink is really a mercy more than anything, because otherwise, like I said, you could deprive zombies of playing in three lanes at the same time. (Zombies don’t get team up, you know).
- 8 years ago@BigJim The # of nerfs means absolutely nothing. It might just point to who the squeakiest wheels are.
Zombies got more nerfs but we also got more buffs and more card changes overall, as well as more buffs than nerfs overall. - Anonymous8 years agoIf anyone wants to go back and check, if my memory serves, it wasn't even a full day and there was a thread about fossilhead.
It doesn't take long for any cards that are overwhelming even just a little bit, to be exposed, but that's just how it is, because they are game changer cards.
That being said, I hate how the masses always pounce on something like this, even though I like the card, personally for being a 4cost it should have been a legendary trick if left as is.
I'm in an odd position with this card, because while it seems like it is literally targeting my deck(Dr Spacetime, Conman, Tanklysauras, Disconaut, Quasarall 2 or less power), I also look at Chum Champion the Hearty legendary as yet another pf the minion killers from this trait. - 8 years ago

Precisely this. Not to mention that zombies have lots of way to get more stats, so if you are dealing with a 4 attack zombie (that is not that uncommon), you can only reduce its attack to 2. Not the greatest thing to do, but hey, it can help you survive.

- 8 years agoLandscaper shrinks. Weed spray kills. Doing both is what makes Shrinking Violet better than both of those cards. Weed Spray is a rare control card for a species (Zombies) with little control. Shrinking Violot is a soon to be staple in a class that does nothing but control.
- 8 years agoYour real complaint plant players should be Chum Champion. I missed this card at first because it’s legendary, I don’t play plants much, and I don’t own one, but it has the potential to be better than all of the afementioned. ^^. Having said that, I would be OK with a similar cost increase on that card if it is indeed as powerful as it seems to be on the surface.

I mean, if you play a healing deck (for example) your win condition is to heal up to the point where your opponent can no longer keep up. That's the whole point of any control deck.

Plants can shrink and destroy zombies and zombies can shrink and destroy plants. Everyone happy!!
(Ok, probably everyone minus you since I can already hear the "but Chum Champion costs more and only shrinks -1 attack and bla bla!!" Thus I would say: "Yes, but it only costs 1 more and you get a 3/4 boddy that you can keep buffing")
- 8 years agoZombies seem better suited for aggro than control, at least most classes are, at least in the current meta.
That’s precisely why Shrinking Violet is so good for a control build like Rose. Its a three-for-one early game that does work even if it doesn’t kill zombies. It would still be good if it cost more, it would just make Rose have to work a little harder to get to 8, play Dragonfruit, and win the game.
Chum seems good, and may even be OP at 5, but it comes with conditions. Condition #1: it requires you to play sports. Shrinking Violet doesn’t require you to play anything. Condition #2: its a control card for an aggro species. Condition #3: it’s legendary, I don’t have one, I’m unlikely to get one anytime soon, and how can I play something I don’t have?
Rarity really does, I think, enter the OP discussion. Would Zomblob have been a problem if it were printed at Legendary? Probably not, because many fewer people would play it.
Shrinking Violet is not really a fair comparison with Weed Spray either. Weed Spray is great against some decks, sometimes, but it’s always a bit of a gamble b/c like ALL zombie tricks there is an opportunity cost to play it. All it takes is some unexpected plant buffing and you’ve held back playing zombies for a dead card. Now you probably lose. Shrinking Violet is never a dead card. You can play it on zombies >2 and you can choose to play plants instead of the circumstances change (all one phase).
Because of how the turn structure works in this game, plants should always be as strong or stronger than zombies... so plants have a chance to respond and gain an advantage off of zombie plays. Zombie tricks should be as strong or stronger than plant tricks, because there is always an opportunity cost in waiting for the trick phase to use brains.
