Zombie here and next door gets -2 and destroy those who have 0. So, you only can destroys zombies who have +2 originally. That for 4 suns.
But, Weed Spray, the same behaviour, destroy all plants (all lanes), that have +2 originally, for 3 brains (and destroys plants like Pecanolith who cost a lot of sun). How convenient that this trick doesn't bother ... ¿uh? Both super rare.
Precisely this. Not to mention that zombies have lots of way to get more stats, so if you are dealing with a 4 attack zombie (that is not that uncommon), you can only reduce its attack to 2. Not the greatest thing to do, but hey, it can help you survive.
- 8 years agoYour real complaint plant players should be Chum Champion. I missed this card at first because it’s legendary, I don’t play plants much, and I don’t own one, but it has the potential to be better than all of the afementioned. ^^. Having said that, I would be OK with a similar cost increase on that card if it is indeed as powerful as it seems to be on the surface.

Shrinking Violot is a soon to be staple in a class that does nothing but control.Errrr... that's how control decks are supposed to win... right?
I mean, if you play a healing deck (for example) your win condition is to heal up to the point where your opponent can no longer keep up. That's the whole point of any control deck.

Plants can shrink and destroy zombies and zombies can shrink and destroy plants. Everyone happy!!
(Ok, probably everyone minus you since I can already hear the "but Chum Champion costs more and only shrinks -1 attack and bla bla!!" Thus I would say: "Yes, but it only costs 1 more and you get a 3/4 boddy that you can keep buffing")
- 8 years agoZombies seem better suited for aggro than control, at least most classes are, at least in the current meta.
That’s precisely why Shrinking Violet is so good for a control build like Rose. Its a three-for-one early game that does work even if it doesn’t kill zombies. It would still be good if it cost more, it would just make Rose have to work a little harder to get to 8, play Dragonfruit, and win the game.
Chum seems good, and may even be OP at 5, but it comes with conditions. Condition #1: it requires you to play sports. Shrinking Violet doesn’t require you to play anything. Condition #2: its a control card for an aggro species. Condition #3: it’s legendary, I don’t have one, I’m unlikely to get one anytime soon, and how can I play something I don’t have?
Rarity really does, I think, enter the OP discussion. Would Zomblob have been a problem if it were printed at Legendary? Probably not, because many fewer people would play it.
Shrinking Violet is not really a fair comparison with Weed Spray either. Weed Spray is great against some decks, sometimes, but it’s always a bit of a gamble b/c like ALL zombie tricks there is an opportunity cost to play it. All it takes is some unexpected plant buffing and you’ve held back playing zombies for a dead card. Now you probably lose. Shrinking Violet is never a dead card. You can play it on zombies >2 and you can choose to play plants instead of the circumstances change (all one phase).
Because of how the turn structure works in this game, plants should always be as strong or stronger than zombies... so plants have a chance to respond and gain an advantage off of zombie plays. Zombie tricks should be as strong or stronger than plant tricks, because there is always an opportunity cost in waiting for the trick phase to use brains.
