Mouse and keyboard not working

So I haven't played the game for 1-1½ months, started it today and noticed that while I can see and move the mouse pointer in menu screen, clicking does not register at all.

I have a xbox360-controller for other games attached to the PC and that works. Started the game and in-game nor mouse or keyboard is working - only the 360-controller. Have tried restarting both game and the PC, with and without the controller - mouse/keyboard wont function in the game.

It seems like the controller has 'taken over' but I can't see any option like that in the option menues?

    Try:

    Remove Controller

Rename (or Delete) the Document/PvZ folder

Launch game (it will build a new Doc/PvZ directory)

If that doesn't work,  plug the Xbox controller in.

navigate to key mappings on the settings.

Remove mappings for the Xbox controller so only Keyboard/Mouse remain.

    Restart game and test.

Tried your suggestion but it did not help unfortunately.

"Remove mappings for the Xbox controller" - this cant be done. I can only remap the controller setting and it only accepts to replace the button for one function with another function so to speak. And resetting to default can not be done either as I can't activate that button... argh!

Thanks for your effort even if it didn't solve my problem...!

Is there any controller software running?  Perhaps something like that is mudding the waters.

Try removing all non-essential USB devices.

No not really... must be some config hickup in GW. Appriciate you taking the time though, I will fiddle a bit with it to see if I can get to work...
