mute, mute, and mute again

I just never want to hear other players because they're too loud, too much background noise, or have terrible mics and it overpowers the game's volume. I'm so tired of repeating the mute feature.

I have to mute in the lobby, during the game, and back in the lobby after the game. 1 new player joining causes me to have to mute all again because of this horrible open-mic system. It's PC. We need push-to-talk by default so we can all enjoy the game and speak if necessary. Instead, communication is ruined by Telemundo in the background and microphone picking up speaker noise which leads to a high-pitched echo. The best solution is to make push-to-talk the default setting. Bonus points for allowing us to adjust incoming and outgoing volume.

Edited:

Made an official report to customer support. Hopefully it will be helpful because this game needs push-to-talk and on by default so we can actually communicate.

  • Yup, if really annoying fix it, you lazy buggers never did an update after it released.

    1. Right click speaker icon in system tray.
    2. Select Playback Devices.
    3. Select a Playback Device other than what you use for sound output.
    4. Right click it and select Set as Default Communications Device.
    5. Hit OK.
    6. Left click on the speaker icon in the system tray.
    7. Click the icon below the slider on the device you chose to mute it.

Do the same for Recording Device -> Default Communications

If you don't have an "unused" Device to make default, we can add a virtual one if you need to.

  • the workaround didn't work. It was completely useless since people still had open mics. Thankfully it has changed exactly to the way suggested. The absense of open mics is divine to my ears. It's so pleasant to not have to mute every 10 seconds and hear everyone's speakers and background noises. I truly hate you all for not muting your mics and I'm glad Popcap can make me hate everyone a little less.
