@This needs to be a thing! suggest it to @JA_Weibe on Twitter. If you can't I'll do it for you. And I'll give credit where it's due.
also just think of chemist with that.

No it shouldn't be a thing. Scientists are already arguably one of the most overpowered characters... allowing them to shoot you and drain your life while healing themself would basically ruin the game.

Counter-Argument: When garden warfare hit 8 million players, it showed a list of most played characters most used ability and scientist isn't even on there! Meaning he's the least played class. Also it wouldn't heal you at a rate of 30 Health per second it would heal you at 7-8 heath per second. heck maybe lower... Also since you have Camo Ranger as your picture I suspect you play foot soldier.... He's MUCH more of a problem...heck he's been spawned 2x more than all star. And God knows how much more than scientist.

1.) It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a scientist character is the close quarter character of the zombies... and probably does the most damage, especially if they have a side effect like fire or toxic. Add on top of that the ability to both take away more health from them and regain your own... is SERIOUSLY overpowered.
2.) Just because a character is least played doesn't mean he's not OP. It just means that people prefer shooting at you from across the map because they're chicken * about their K/D ratio. That's why the Camo Ranger is an issue to many.
3.) My foot soldier is my lowest ranked zombie. I'm level 40 on All Star and Scientist. Engineer is next highest... so you suspected wrong.

While I see your point and I'm quite surprised you arn't a foot soldier. and he can be pest at sometimes, he takes skill to use, sure you can just blindly run into battle, you can also be sneaky, surprising characters he can very powerful. (If In the right hands) But I don't think he's over powered.
Also I'm guessing Popcap can find a way to balance the beam well.

Actually it would probably be pretty well balanced, just as the Vampire Sunflower has only 75 health to compensate for her health stealing I'm sure a vampire scientist could be balanced the same. Possibly by giving it less health or reduced damage.

@xcrimsonlegendx I just realized that me and you use almost the exact same loadout, I use Chemist and I use the Pink Camo and I wear the swirling glasses... I'm not Kidding. This is how I've customized my chemist.
What abilities do you run?

Currently, the Chester heal station because it heals the fastest, default warp and default sticky balls.

I thought this thread was about adding abilities. Now you're talking about a new scientist variant, which is a different discussion and belongs in your other thread. Slapping a vampire beam on any scientist will not work. You can't treat it like the Vampire Sunflower because that is their primary attack and not an ability... and you can adjust health on one specific unique variant... but you can't handicap all scientists because not everyone may use that vampire beam.

Just as the Unicorn chomper has a unique ability, a scientist could also. Variants/Abilities are kind of a thing, I was just kind of feeding off your comment about wanting a vampire character so I adapted the conversation to reflect that. Still talking about abilities.
