  • @x3voider Everyone would love to see GW3 but it's unlikely at this moment, the original team is mostly gone and BFN wasnt a success so it wont happen anytime soon, but as you I pray and hope for the series to return in the future.
  • We all really hope we get a new PvZ shooter. I like all 3 games, especially GW2 (over 2500 hours in it now), but with no new content coming for any of them, even those that love the series will move on sooner or later. The fact that you can get matches on a game that is now 4 years old and has a sequel (more or less in BfN), should show EA/PopCap that there's a market for these great series.

As @malfinman points out, the team has largely moved on to other projects/companies/divisions so things don't look great for a new PvZ shooter right now. That being said, they may be waiting for the reaction and situation regarding BfN to slip out of our recent memory before making a new shooter with a new team or something like that. We need a new shooter and the sooner we get one, that isn't plagued with bugs or other problems, the better. If they get it right, they can have another hit like GW and GW2.

From what I've seen regarding numbers and discussions; GW1 was a surprise hit so EA made GW2 which did even better than GW1. BfN appears to be them reacting to how Overwatch did even better than GW2 did (they launched close together), and trying to make the PvZ shooters more like OW to retain the loyal PvZ fans and those that wanted a game more like OW but obviously BfN didn't work out so well. I'd love for a brand new game that returns to a formula closer to GW1 and 2 but with some of the features that BfN did well on (extra HUD info like the overheat indicator, the ability to save multiple builds for each character, and the free roam regions) as well.

The forums are quiet these days I know, but I also know that the moderators are still out there and I hope you see that we want a new PvZ shooter that is supported for a long time, has a better launch, is less buggy, is more consumer friendly, and is as fun as can be. A lot of veterans of the series that aren't posting right now are still out there and they want a new PvZ shooter, it's the main reason I'm still around and posting on the forums!

At one point i'm sure there will be a Garden Warfare3. There just has to be.

Garden Warfare2 still works so good and deserves a worthy sequel!

and we all know Neighborville was not worthy.

They tried to change things up, which was a nice try but ultimately didn't work.

The core of PvZ is variants and lots of different characters. So pretty sure they will go back to that sometime in the future.

Although i worry it will at least take some years.

Thank god the PvZ GW2 community on PS4 is still very active, i'm still there every day for some good old fashioned Turf or Gnome Bomb.

  • Hey @x3voider

It's something we all want to see, but I'm afraid it's unlikely.

The best thing you can do is to support the games for as long as you can. I haven't played GW2 in over a year and just returned and am thinking about putting some money into finishing my party character collection.

  • How is it active for years i have tired to play the game but i never get to it always fails to load a match

Agreed, I keep getting "Failed to find a match". I'm a long time PC player and for the past week or so, multiplayer seems broken. I have a proper support ticket in, hopefully that will prompt some action on EA's side to fix the issue.

  • There was for sure released PvZ 3 but in testing mode but development was halted by what I heard. Also there are rumours about that development team works or they might on another PvZ game based on Candy Crush game mechanic. However there are no official posts about launch of these games so I can't tell what next PvZ game release will be next.

Also I mainly play PvZ BFN and by my experience there are still many people playing the game. Hubs are fulled with players and also commonly public matches. Mostly I play turf takeover and there's no rarity in being full server (limit for turf takeover server is 24 players). With comparison of BFN and GW2 I think there are much less people playing GW2. By my experience while playing GW2 for few hours I found out that casual pvp servers are mostly half fulled and there are no bots to replace missing players and I felt like I'm playing in empty server.

I don't have overall view of popularity in GW series and in BFN but GW was for sure huge success. Altough BFN didn't end with the same success I still think the game still keeps decent ammount of active people playing it.

    Hey Everyone

As this thread is a bit old at this point, things have changed and been updated, we are going to lock this down so that we can prevent any necro-posting.

If you run into any further issues, concerns, or questions about future game releases for the PvZ series, please create a new thread or comment on an existing one, so that we can begin tracking accordingly!

    Cheers!
