[PC] GW2 does not recognise keyboard/mouse input

Howdy.
I am using the Garden Warfare 2 trial edition and once the game begins, my keyboard and mouse input are not recognised. Just wondering if you had any ideas on what else I could try to address this problem.
I have found plugging in an Xbox 360 gamepad allows me to play as normal, but I would prefer to be using keyboard and mouse.
For reference I am running a dual monitor setup and my setup more than meets the games minimum system requirements to run. From what I can tell my drivers are all current, however the game does prompt me when I try to run it that my Intel driver version is out of date.
