Hello everybody.

I want to make this clear from the start: please don't let this thread get your hopes up too much.

This post is meant to take a look at everything we know about the announcement that content updates for BfN would be cancelled and why, eve though things aren't looking good, we still should at least try to get this announcement to change.

The big bang

On September 1st (Whyyyy on this date?), EA made a blog post about the newest festival and prize map. It starts out very clam and towards the end, one sentence shifted the tone of the blog post dramatically. It communicates the discontinuation of content updates:

"As the leaves start to change, September’s Fall Festival will be our last Festival and our final game and gameplay update will be at the end of the month."

What does that mean?

The game will still receive balancing and bug fix updates, but no new content, even though a lot of nearly finished content has been found in the game's files. Please keep in mind this info isn't official. The unreleased content has been found by data miners, who take a look at content hiding in the game. 

Could we change something about this?

Many think it is impossible for the community to do something about the announcement, but the blog post indicates otherwise in the last paragraph: "This announcement may change as we listen to community feedback and continue developing and evolving our Live Service & Content. We will always strive to keep our community as informed as possible. For more information, please refer to EA’s Online Service Updates at https://www.ea.com/service-updates."

What is so weird about this? 11 months of content updates is good, isn't it?

Usually if such an announcement happens, it doesn't say "we could change our plans based on your feedback". Some people think it is just there to soften the shock. The team working on BfN has a website. This website says that the team is working on a new game of a past game series from EA. This doesn't have to mean there couldn't be more content updates to BfN if we demand them and give positive feedback though. We could at least get the nearly finished content that lese would be scrapped to be released.

Factors why the "This announcement could change based on our community's feedback could be accurate:

• This part is included in every translation of the blog post and even more promising in languages other than English
• There is a bunch of unreleased and nearly finished content in the game's files
• Why would they lie about it? It would only upset people more.
• There aren't any truly active PvZ games on the market. PvZ Garden Warfare 1/2 still have functioning servers, but no new content. PvZ 2 hasn't seen a content update in years. PvZ 3 has only been released in a few countries. PvZ Heros hasn't been updates in ages as well. BfN, until the announcement, was the only PvZ game with active content support.
• Content updates could be brought to us by a different dev team, even if it seems unlikely.
• PvZ: BfN is one of the only child friendly shooters on the market

Factors why  it could not mean anything and be over:

• The studio behind BfN has publicly announced on their website that they are working on a new game unrelated to PvZ
• If the game really performed poorly, EA wouldn't be interested in saving it. To them, money is the most important factor. On this note we should remember EA changed their policy in regards to Star Wars due to fan backlash, though. To be fair, however, the Star Wars franchise is quite a bit bigger than PvZ.

What can you do? 

• Make posts on social media directed at EA and PopCap and say how much you want BfN to receive further content updates
• Sign every petition you can find on it, it only takes a few seconds
• Support threads on here

Please note that this post is only me trying to make sense of some recents events. Do not get hyped because of me. Stay pessimistic BUT do everything you can do to save BfN.

I supported it by donating 10 Euros.

I know you might say that was stupid, but it's the ammount I wanted to spend on rainbow stars before the announcement.

WHY do I still think we can make an impact?

We won't get another PvZ shooter, the way it seems. Our only way of getting more PvZ is by supporting everything trying to save BfN.

The blog post says the announcement could change after feedback.

Still in denial...so sad.

@GormeyHi again. Nice reference to the 5 stages of grief. As I said before, I very well understand not much will happen. Iceburg Lettuce still has a chance, though, in my opinion. I just wanted to sum the whole thing up for people who missed the announcement. Personally, I don’t get my hopes up, but will sign any petition I see, as it is very low effort and maybe could get us Iceburg Lettuce. Even if the chances are slim, it is better than not trying at all (in my opinion).
