Plants Suck
Yeah, I feel better in my heart now I've expressed my opinion about this side. It isn't even one class that sucks, it's all of them. Fix Rose Buff Sunflower Fix Chomper Buff Cactus Buff Peashoo...
Well thought out post. Nice to see you've come back with a much clearer head!
I agree in part with what you've put as well. Not that I think plants are at the massive disadvantage some people think they are, but because some classes seem pointless now, and are simply overshadowed by better plants.
Sunflower I disagree with though, she's so perfectly balanced - please leave her be.
I know some variations of Sunflower are deadly, or can be deadly.
But why can't Sunflower have warping abilities and a Shotugn and give zombies a taste of their own science? I'm trying to prove a point.

I'd love a shotgun class but not for the sunflower. I just don't see the point in making it a near symmetrical copy of the scientist, especially given that the sunflower can heal from 2x abilities consistently whereas the scientist can't if you exclude his heal bomb (which you rarely see put to good use). I'd much rather see it on a peashooter. Hyper, shotgun and a chili bomb would make for quite a nice close range combination.

Having it in the same class creates balance, if a Sunflower has no close up firepower you won't see her in the fights often?
Sunflower only has a flower pot, the scientist has both heal station and mega bomb? I'm talking about self healing here, also works for team healing too.
Burst healing makes such a difference, just like burst damage.

I think they just need to buff up the plants team as a whole. The original plants were all designed on very open maps with the enemy being seen way in advance, or much further. The zombies on the other hand were always capable of dealing out damage once they got in range. These new maps have allowed the zombies to dominate because of poor adjustment to the new maps.
You know how fast the standard imp can dump his 35 rounds? I clocked it at 2.65 on my stopwatch. Do you know what it takes a vamp sunflower to do the same? 7.09 seconds. Takes the normal flower 6.6 seconds to dump 35 shots. Mob Corn? 5+ seconds.... The imp can actually win a straight shoot out, no movement against any Rose or Sunflower. I dare the devs to actually test something like that. And then they went ahead and made him small, and able to change direction midair, and the hardest to hit, and give him as much life as a vamp flower...Ridiculous.
So in a game where cover is abound, and by the time you're face to face, whoever has the burst damage wins out. Guess who that is by a mile? The Zoologist can dump 9 shotgun shots in 3.21 seconds... 9! At 30 per piece that's 270 damage! Being a sunflower, a rose, a peashooter you're actually dead in a second. 1 second with 100 life. You know how much damage a plant can do in 1 second? About a quarter of the opponents life.
There is a hedge or obstacle to hide around every 2 feet. There is no traversing in wide open areas in this game, where the plants can actually fight the way they were originally designed too. The devs made a massive mistake in refusing to adjust times with the new maps. And it's why scientists can run around killing a party of 3 before it even knew what hit them. Everyone talks about oh, the rose is a support class, it shouldn't deal damage. Well so is the scientist, and he hits like a truck.... Don't give me the excuse oh he's so close ranged. This game is designed to be a close ranged battle. His teleport allows him to go straight from a hedge to you, and you lose because there's no way you can burst him faster than he bursts you. I'm annoyed at the lack of attention the devs put into this game.

I read your post and I agree it's evident that Plants need an offensive buff, reason being because originally when they were first designed it was for G&G solely to hold Zombies off the Garden. So they were intended to be more defensive, which is fine for every mode except Herbal Assault.
Anyway you are right Sunflower can be extremely deadly, Sun Pharaoh, Vampire Flower, Fire Flower to name a few. However you know what I find annoying, going to go revive someone and notice a zombie is coming your way. If it's an All Star you are good as dead from being tackled or receiving an Imp Punt, if it's a Super Brains then it's his fireball and Tornado to watch out for, if it's a Scientist it's game over and if it's an Imp mech well you are just *.
I would love to see the Sunflower get a more offensive ability or something she can use which is gives her a viable way to escape danger. Sunbeam is amazing, but places you in the ground. Now having a Sunbeam where you are mobile would be nice for some burst damage, obviously it's meter would be less than a solar flare,
I would love to see a Shotgun character type for the Plant side. I keep saying Ghost Pepper would be perfect for that, she's a fan fav and would really even the odds in that role. She had a mouth Scream which was ranged and very strong in PvsZ 2, perfect for a Shotgun class and would counter the Scientist beautifully in close range.
Ghost Pepper is what I've read too, I keep thinking it'll be Hypnoshroom or a tiny little Dandellion?
Even if they do give it to a new character, to me still most of the characters will be redundant and pointless to use. Soldier is still a great class but because the other zombies are so much better right now hardly anyone is using them.
In my opinion, from adding friends, and younger kids who have added me through the first game and the second, most of them have maxed Rose, and Electro Brains, most of the younger generation are playing all the broken classes, you can't blame them.
I feel like it is the more mature and experienced gamers who are playing Plants and struggling to combat the little kids, due to no fault of their own it doesn't even matter what class you use or how good you are most of the time. Zombies are capable of, generally speaking much higher vanquishes and streaks. I have no problem with losing, or even dying, but when you're dying to the same thing over and over again and you don't even stand a fighting chance that's when it's frustrating and that's what is driving players away.
Rose was broken, but so were some of the zombie classes, Rose is still great to use if you want to come onto the battlefield and say 'Ohh yeah, I'll slow that thing down and turn him to a Goat, then I'll die because my job is done.' Once your CC is gone, you're done. Any class shouldn't be so reliant on CC, none of the zombies are like that, the ones that are all hit like trucks. Someone recently mentioned that her CC should have been nerfed, and not her hitting potential, I'm starting to agree with that.
Slightly decreased damage and reworked CC would have fixed Rose, right now she's garbage and I'm not looking forward to levelling her up. All of me wishes I had played her non stop when she was broken but that really isn't my style.
