Plants Suck
Yeah, I feel better in my heart now I've expressed my opinion about this side. It isn't even one class that sucks, it's all of them. Fix Rose Buff Sunflower Fix Chomper Buff Cactus Buff Peashoo...
I don’t mind providing feedback, but just as a heads up, I want to say that I still disagree with just about everything you’re saying, and I (originally) gave some very specific explanations as to why (admittedly) in a massive wall of text. Some of the content in my reply from here on out, by their very nature, can be nothing more than a reiteration of what I already said. But I also don’t have time to go back and forth forever.
And no, leveling up Electro Brainz using a private match set up you can find on youtube, against bot opponents, is not that hard; I’d agree.
Although character properties and what may need an adjustment is all opinion, I can tell you with absolute certainty that I know my fundamentals about both of the Garden Warfare games, especially since I had like a 16.0 K/D on part 2.
All of the Plant abilities are not defensive; that is incorrect. And it’s also incorrect to assume that the only way to play offense is to use a mid to close range weapon.
So how do you fix this? Well a creative effort is better than nerfing his weapon, and you have to think outside the box. What I can say is that I use a 200 dollar headset; literally the type you would see NFL head coaches wear, and I know how to read the environment for threats. You obviously do so visually, both for the characters themselves as well as their icons, but you also do so by sound cues. And I can say for certain that it’s very difficult, if not impossible in some situations, to determine whether or not these types of players are behind you until you’re almost dead. One very nice technique was how Monday Night Combat (another TPS) had a stealth/ninja class with an invisibility suit. She was mostly melee, but her invisibility suit made a very slight humming noise that skilled listeners (with a headset) could hear. In Garden Warfare 2, no matter how closely I listen and make sound adjustments, it’s still hard to hear (or see) some of these Scientists running up from behind on you – and I think if they somehow modified that, it would neutralize the rush down.

To the contrary, I use just about every single class, and did the same thing in Garden Warfare 1, with the exception of the scientist.
So after all this, a lot of what you’re saying is just opinion, but a couple things are pretty accurate. If I were to make a fix, I would do this from here:
-Correct the Chomper’s dig ability, and eating function from under the ground. If possible, make his proximity to the camera the same as it was with GW1.
-Buff the Sunflower with more health than the Scientist on average, possibly add in a new ability to help heal your team mates, and possibly add a very, very slight damage output increase.
-Fix the speed of bullets so you don’t have to lead people as much. I’ve also found (a glitch?) where I have my target right on someone firing and the shots just don’t land.
-Create an indication when certain characters are behind you, or similar to boss mode in Garden Warfare 1, some sort of upgrade (or ability) that you can equip to reveal ALL zombies and/or plants.
-Slight upgrade to Kernel Corn’s standard weapon and butter strike.
-I'd probably modify Rose (just slightly) but I'd have to do some more thinking on that one...
Another key change I'd make is make it about 5-15% easier to acquire stars and maybe make it slightly easier to level up, so people can unlock upgrades. If they have daily challenges (providing more stars) they can also increase the experience point output of the fish (by double, triple or more), making it easier to level that way.
Players should also unlock a MASSIVE amount of coins for Mastering a character. The 20,000 coins is good for the different leveling under Master, but when you reach master status, they should give you at least 100,000 coins, but probably more like 250,000 or more.
Ye whilst I agree with zaheen about k/b and mouse seriously skewing scores on console, I also agree with IIINCORRUPTIBLE in regards to balance.
I'm ex-pc as well. I had stop after CoD4 as I was missing out on my daughter growing up - spending way too much time playing scrims, league and cup matches. Besides everything after it was *e. What games did you play competitively? What was your alias? You never know we may have bumped heads before.
I agree with what he is saying when he says things like, my opinion of overpowered is just an opinion.
Both him and you disagreeing is also just an opinion, and well the majority are zombie players so I may not win this battle. Not claiming you or him are however, I'm just generally speaking.
I am sure you've heard of games like Halo and Call of Duty. I use to play the game that, the developers of Halo and the like based their game around. Starsiege Tribes was the best FPS shooters I have ever played, that game will never be surpassed by anything for me. Nothing comes close, and almost 15 years later Call of Duty is using a few mechanics that game did. I stopped playing PC games when my PC expired, and my gaming laptop couldn't handle Battlefield II so well, in fact it was whatever came out in 2011, I stopped playing on the PC because there were and still are too many cheaters and aimbots around.
I change my name too many times in online games, but I used to use the name Goat coincidentally, Alias, Unknown...but those names are common so I doubt we bumped heads. I played a few MMOs, Age of Conan, WildStar, and a few Steam games like Worms Revolutions, helped the devs balance Clan Wars, and well was one of the best at that. I play for fun now, and I only play fun games. That's what games are all about 🙂
My skill level is usually amongst the higher tier players when I want it to be, but my mentality isn't always about winning anymore. I only do that if I'm trying to prove a point, or someone wrong etc.
Strange most pc players I know, and I knew alot, kept the same alias, only using different ones for mixes, irc scrims etc. When you said high skill I thought you meant competitive play, like in a team maybe? My team topped various cod2/cod4 leagues and ladders in various gametypes back in the day. Even got an invite to the CoD2 CTF eurocup on clanbase. We also ran one of the most popular rifles only servers on CoD2 (it was called shagpad). We was pretty damned good 😉
When we wasn't busy with the above we'd be playing scrims, pugs and mixes or sat on IRC looking for them. So you could say I have plenty of experience with shooters.
So if you was 'high skill' as you claim you'd have been in a team no?
