Plants Town Center & Mount Steep - Collectibles Guide!

Hey everyone,

In this thread I will be showing you where the collectibles are located in Plants Town Center & Mount Steep. Note that I will not be mentioning collectibles I have already mentioned in much detail, and I also will not be showing you all of the locations myself, since I have already collected them myself and there's no point showing you. So, instead, I will provide links to websites and videos that will show you where they are, or to help you understand what even you're looking for in the first place.

That said, I will share information what these collectibles are, how many of them there are to collect, the rewards you get for collecting them, and so on. These rewards you get are finite, but there are a total of 4 regions in the game as of right now, meaning there are lots of rewards you can get your hands on. Every collectible gives your current character XP when you collect it, so do put into consideration which character you use. For instance, you may not like a certain character that much so you may want to level them up by collecting these collectibles from these regions. Another thing to consider is that you can use the "Levelling Up" upgrade to gain 10% more XP from collectibles you collect, while you are collecting stuff. Then after, if you wish, you can then remove the upgrade. Some collectibles are at a really high elevation so you may need to use a character with lots of jump height abilities in some circumstances. You may also want to consider using characters with high mobility to get to other collectibles more quickly.

I will be talking about the Chests, Golden Chests, Gnome Chests, and each free-roam region's exclusive collectibles. Let's get started now, shall we?

CHESTS

Common Chests

In every free-roam region, there are a total of 50 Common Chests to collect. Their appearance are small, but wide, regular brown chests, and they are scattered throughout each region. You do not need to complete any story quests or any other prerequisites before being able to collect these. However, there may be some exceptions in rare circumstances. These have varying rewards, such as Coins, Tacos (Town Center only) and Sheriff Badges (Mount Steep only).

Rewards for Collecting:

  • 250 XP for each Common Chest you open.
  • The reward/s inside the chest.
  • Chest in Show - a medal you get when you have opened 3 Common Chests (Town Center only).
  • Empty Chesters - a medal you get when you have opened all Common Chests (Town Center only).
  • Chest Wishes - a medal you get when you have opened 3 Common Chests (Mount Steep only).
  • Wild Wild Chest - a medal you get when you have opened all Common Chests (Mount Steep only).

Golden Chests

In every free-roam region, there are a total of 5 Golden Chests to collect. Their appearance are tall and wide, golden-coloured chests, and they are in different locations throughout each region. These work differently than normal chests: they are harder to get hold of, as you must complete the main story (except for the boss fight part). They require use of the Mindblower (Plants Town Center) or the Harmonica (Mount Steep), to get access to each Golden Chest. For this reason, when you find a Golden Chest, they will be blocked by a large zombie or dried cheese, depending on your region. What I suggest for this reason: check your map for the nearest Mindblower or Harmonica station, depending on your region. Then, use them to open the blocked area, then head there and open your chest. Enjoy your rewards - Golden Chests are less abundant than normal and contain exclusive, unique and fun rewards. They also contain more rewards than Common Chests.

Rewards for Collecting:

  • 500 XP for each Golden Chest you open.
  • The reward/s inside the chest.
  • Gold Struck - a medal you get when you have opened 3 Golden Chests (Town Center only).
  • Too Ingot to Handle, Too Gold to Hold - a medal you get when you have opened all Golden Chests (Town Center only).
  • Worth its Weight in Chests - a medal you get when you have opened 3 Golden Chests (Mount Steep only).
  • Gold Rushed - a medal you get when you have opened all Golden Chests (Mount Steep only).

Gnome Chests

There are 2 Gnome Chests in each free-roam region. They look really similar to normal chests except that they are grey instead of brown, being the most noticeable difference. These 2 chests are located in one location only, and together: The Gnome Shrine. To get access to both of these Gnome Chests, you must collect all of the Golden Gnomes in the region first. I've made a guide on the Golden Gnomes and the Gnome Shrine, so check them out here if you wish:

About Other Collectibles and Conclusion

Other collectibles have been mentioned in previous guides or something like that. They will be mentioned briefly here. Just note that Battle Chest, Bounty Hunts and Ops activities will not be mentioned here, as they are activities, not collectibles:

Golden Gnomes: There are 24 in each region. Some of them are really simple to collect, while others are harder to get and may require you to complete a challenge first. When you have collected all of them, you can open both of the Gnome Chests. Collecting one gives your current character 250 XP.

Diamond Gnomes: There are 3 in each region. They all require you to do a fairly challenging activity, a Puzzle, Gnomolith and Parkour. After you have completed the respective challenge, you can then freely collect the Diamond Gnome. Once you have collected all of them, you can open the Mysterious Door in the Gnome Shrine and fight the region's Gnome Boss. Collecting one gives your current character 1,000 XP.

Medals: There are 50 to collect in each region. By collecting all of the medals, you can unlock everything in Sergeant Peel's shop for purchase. Check your progress by checking your stats in the menu while in your respective free-roam region. These require you to do different quests or collect items, or require you to do other things, so be sure to check them out so you have an idea of what to do.

Collectibles are nice to have in free-roam regions. Even though they can take a while to find, they are well worth the effort. You are not required to fight enemies or do any extra quests in most circumstances, and the rewards you get for obtaining them are pretty significant. I suggest using a character with mobility and/or vertical abilities so you can get to other collectibles, as well as hard to reach ones, easier. Playing with friends, if possible, is also beneficial, as your friends can collect these items for their account as well as you getting them for yours. They can also help you find the collectibles. Collectibles may take some effort to find, but it's a one time thing for each region and the rewards you get from all of them are very decent, you are also able to grasp exclusive stuff. Good luck earning your collectible items waiting for you!

See you next time!

Regards
