Plants vs zombies garden warfare: lost connection to EA se4servers

We purchased plants vs zombies garden warfare for our son for the PS4. We are trying to get set up but have not been able to play at all, as it says "you have lost your connection to the EA servers" every time we try to start it. So frustrating and he is disappointed he can't play his new game. Any suggestions?? Other games seem to work no problem.
