Hi there, @budkin.
Thanks for reaching out to us about this. I'd like you to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem, router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem and router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. Let me know if that helps or not. Thanks!

@EA_Aljo Have exactly the same problem on my spanking new XBox X.
Could it be server related or is it just a lack of maintenance seeing that the game is no longer supported?- EA_Aljo5 years ago

Those servers are still up and running with players on them so I'm not seeing any issues on our end currently. Do you have the game installed on an internal or external hard drive?
- 5 years ago@EA_Aljo I've done this several times. I've also totally re-downloaded the game. I've had load times over 5 minutes. The OP describes what is happening to me exactly. (wired Xbox Series X)

Let's see if alternate DNS settings will help. From the Xbox One screen, go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > DNS settings > Manual. (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings). From there, enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220". If that doesn't help, try using the google DNS servers which are: primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - secondary alt number 8.8.4.4. Let me know how it goes. Thank you.

I will try that and get back to you with what happens. Thanks for the attention!

I also have an Xbox One X and the game loads on it as it always has.

Hi, happens on our series s and X. What we do is simply hit the middle controller button (eg to bring up the Xbox GUI/main menu) then cancel again. That seems to kick the game into action and the flower changes into the taco/pre load etc.
I usually wait about the same time as I used to on the one X, then do the above 🙂

I have the exact same problem, I just bought my series x 2 weeks ago, and it takes around a minute and a half for my gw2 to load, I don’t have the same problem with my gw1. But with my old ps4 I can load it up in 2 seconds? How is a now old-gen console running faster loading speeds?

Typical I T type response " hey dummies did you turn it off an back on?" It's a known issue
It's probably never going to be fixed.

I did all of the "solutions" mentioned, nothing helped. When my Xbox Series X was brand new it ran smoothly as any other game did, booted up quite fast. Less than a minute. Now it takes exactly four minutes on the dot to load the game, when it doesn't get stuck on blank or rather black screen with nothing else running on my console. I timed it. And that's best case scenario I'm talking about, sometimes it loads much longer.
And yes I did the factory reset of my X, didn't help. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, didn't help. Bought the game from Microsoft store and installed it - you've guessed it - didn't help. It's installed on internal ssd with velocity infrastructure and it shouldn't be the game that loads the longest as it isn't even the biggest (size wise) in my library. Everything else loads blazing fast as it should on a brand new piece of hardware, but not PvZ GW2. Apparently this is a known issue for well over a year now and nothing has been done to reconcile it. It is really a deterrent for new players and even the old ones when your "most powerful console in the world" gets stuck on not the biggest nor the most graphically challanging game.
Edit: GamePass Ultimate user here. Don't know if that's relevant to anything but in the first two months it ran quite smoothly. Also my timezone is GMT and the issue is persistant no matter the time of day or anything else. If the console had been shut down completely or just in standby mode - 4 minutes or longer. Did some of the files get corrupt over time and if so, why did factory reset had no effect?
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo This is why things never get fixed. Because you have 12 year Olds telling gamers of 30 years to, "unplug it and plug it back in." Despite being given the exact nature of the problem, specifics and details making it very obvious that a hard reset will have no effect on EA cutting the servers to games older than 5 years. Cuz they suck.
