They should make money at every point! As there are different kinds of payers out there, EA/PopCap has set up different entry points: real money to entice the get-it-first crowd, real money to easily get all the missed event cards (because either you're new or they were too hard to attain before), real money for the superpack bundle, and of course money for gems for all other aspects of the game (buying cards in the pre-built decks and heroes/packs).
As someone who was only able to get 2 or 3 event cards prior to the daily challenge, I have welcomed it and posted my thanks (http://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/The-Daily-Challenge-Is-a-Welcome-Addition-to-Event-Ticket/m-p/6023862#U6023862). I'm also thankful for the current 1200 ticket cost for event cards. So yes, to get all four copies of an event card, I'm playing-until-I-win 23 multiplayer games per week under a mandatory four-hour refresh timer, completing all daily challenges for the week (which may take multiple tries), and picking up the remaining tickets as I complete quests/have fun. I can't watch videos for fun or profit (iPad2 is apparently an elder tablet), so I had no idea that I was missing out on more than just free gems. ☹️
i feel sorry for every players who still hard to get 4 copies despite the tickets cost down and daily challenge. but we have to understand the developer team position, how hard they have to think and implement feature and content to keep players. i believe they will give us more if possible for them. i think the tickets cost down and daily challenge are proof for us to believe in developer.
