Nightcap has been nerfed for the past few balance patches. If you aren’t being ironic or making a joke, what you’re trying to suggest is total annihilation of this character. There would be absolutely no use or incentive to play Nightcap if PopCap did what you’ve described in this post.
- Almost halve her damage
- Increase the time it takes to reload
- Reduce her clip size
- Reduce her already low health
- Make her transparent instead of invisible, even though you can still see the dust particles left by an invisible Nightcap
Nightcap is by far the chunkiest of the small characters (she’s much wider and somewhat taller than Imp and Acorn), and she’s already seen nerfs to Casting Shadows and Fung Fu, along with the nerfs to Parkour and Fleet Footed (one of which was justified). None of the changes you’ve listed will be better for the game or the character, it would just make Nightcap an incredibly unfun and ridiculous character to play.
The only justifiable nerf is reducing her damage, and that would come with the addition of damage dropoff, which would stop sniping from all characters except the actual sniper classes. I honestly find it hard to believe that this post is not be a joke, because with these changes Nightcap would serve absolutely no purpose in the game. You’re asking to nerf a decently good plant, whose already been nerfed in almost every balance update, when the game is in a heavily Zombie-favored meta right now.
She is meant to be a glass cannon and a stealthy assassin, with a high damage output but also having the lowest health in the game. I can agree that dealing with a team of Nightcaps gets annoying but at that point you might as well pull out Super Brainz or Electric Slide and just down them all in an instant.
Learn the matchup and find a counter. If they tend to stay at the back of the group, flank and take them out. If they play aggressive, get the jump and take them out before they take you out.
She’s balanced.
