Please Save Mixed Mode!

Mixed Mode is really suffering - I occasionally enjoy it as an alternative to turf, because it gives you a change in maps & objectives as well as (usually) short, fast-paced games.

I've tried playing it a number of times recently & whenever I've gone in, either the lobby has been completely empty or there's been a maximum of 6 people.

While I know Turf & the weekly event will always be the most popular, this is worrying considering in GW2 (Xbox Europe) I can always find a full lobby. It needs help to make it more appealing!

Ideally, it needs a couple more modes to make it more interesting - put TT & TV back into the rotation, or add a couple of new ones.

Some daily challenges relating to gnome bomb, vanquish confirmed & suburbination could be added.

The maps are on the big size for these small modes which makes them take longer, so if the maps can't be adjusted, maybe add a crazy speed boost (temporary or otherwise).

Have Mixed Mode as a weekly event.

At the moment, if you find any players at all, the games are less of a match & more of a long, tedious game of hide-and-seek. It would be a shame to lose this mode because no one finds it as much fun as it used to be.

  • This is happening on PS4 as well.  It’s a shame. Usually this is the game mode most vets play except for the die hard turf fans like myself.  Occasionally I will switch too mix mode for a while.  I’ve stopped trying at this point.  I can’t tell you the last time I’ve tried battle arena because of the same thing.  What a waste!  They’ve giving us everything we asked for in this game but the mechanics ruined a good start.  It’s a bummer for sure.

  • I must admit I barely touch mixed mode or battle arena. Not because I don't enjoy them but I've got good at TT and TV and stick to what I know. This is human nature.

I kind of feel if I sunk time into other modes and got good I would get more fun from the game but lazy players like me need an incentive to change. And if you do try a new mode and can't find a full lobby, that just makes the problem even worse like a reinforced negative spiral.

So... Solution would be to promote one of the less played modes as a weekend event. Give double XP or double coins or bulbs or exclusive cosmetic awards for playing the featured mode. Then once the weekend is over players who came for the goodies will be more used to the mode and inclined to play it more in future. Repeat this once per fortnight for different modes.

Edit: ok I'll play some other modes in tonight's session 😀

@34975634954957Yes, people generally stick with what they're used to / good at. Mixed Mode used to have a big crowd in its own right - a whole different set of players who preferred it. I think a lot of those who did like it have been put off by losing TT & TV and new players have no incentive to play it. It can be great fun if you have a good lobby & it's nice not to do the same thing on the same maps back to back - it just needs a few changes & promoting to get the lobbies back 😬

I love Mixed Mode and detest TT...  I couldn’t have been happier to see Turf out of the rotation but am all but sure that’s not the reason for Mixed Mode being emptier than anticipated... ALL modes are suffering right now.  PvP is broken so bad that nobody can enjoy it.

Not having mechanics ironed out = issues for BfN.

Right now, there should be dozens of lobbies full in all modes. 😢

I think it’s going to be bleak until things are fixed.

And once they've fixed it all, I hope they actually promote their game! It seems to have fallen under most people's radar which is leading to low player bases. It's barely present on twitch. Even in its current state it deserves more players. It's better than COD and FIFA.

Me and my friends playing only mixed mode. Its much better than Turf, we dont like big maps, hits from the unknown places, its boring. Mixed mode is best, its little strategic and not about the rushing and only shooting. In last days is really hard to find server for mixed mode.. i tried everything, changing the region, restarting xbox, restarting game, is this mode really unpopular or what? Change battle arena to the last position, nobody cares about it i think or give more weekly events for mixed mode, its the best mode or please make team vanquish mode with 100 kills, 50 is low, games are short, 100 sounds better.

  • It's not just happen with Mixed Mode but all other modes too, except TT. And i think the low playerbase is the main reason. If they can't do something to promote the game, at least bring it to Steam. We really need more players.

  • When I first got into GW1 I focused on mixed mode as I like seeing all the maps and like playing more than just 1 mode. Later as GW1's population dwindled you only really got matches in G&G and some in TV on PC so had to choose between them and G&G was more popular in general. I really liked Taco Bandits too!

In GW2 it quickly became all TT and little less barring the portal so to get the quests for other modes done had to play private matches. I'd rather be able to play all modes even though I prefer objective based play over other modes, but it's already becoming all TT or weekly events (Ops is more popular here than it was in GW2 though), due to the problems PvP in BfN still has.

The latest update has helped but there are still some glaring issues that have to be addressed for the game to get over this hump. There are also some problems with the Rux store that is causing issues. They really need to get PvP more enjoyable and balanced, fix any performance issues people have, fix team imbalance problems, and be more clear on Rux's stock rotation with the real money it costs. Once that's done they need to promote the game much better than they have.

A new game like this should have all modes packed full of people. I see decent matches in TT and quite a few in Ops, but I feel a lot of new players are in the PvE areas as they are frustrated with PvP which will turn PvP focused players away and that's not a good place to be.
