I think the primary issue here is that the Unicorn Chomper was offered as a GW1 maximum player level reward.
I have unlocked every other character which is available in GW2; the only empty space in my character stable its the one that the Unicorn Chomper would occupy.
I've actually gone back to GW1 and have been grinding to make my way up to level 313 before February of next year so that I can get that one last character.
And make no mistake- it is an absolute grind to level up in GW1 even with the judicious use of their "Skip Challenge Stars" which you get occasionally from the sticker packs. The leveling system in GW1 was so frustrating and some of the tasks so impossible to do in any reasonable amount of time I stopped paying attention to them when I got to level 34 and I just played the game for fun from there.
I've so far invested another 60 or 70 hours in the game just towards leveling up and have reached level 105 this weekend past and I have to say I'll be incredibly disappointed if the exclusive character is just handed out to everyone 6 or 8 months from now.
If you're enough of a completionist that you can't live without the character in your roster then do what the rest of us have done or are doing- get GW1 and grind.
I don't think keeping the character an exclusive is a bad thing; let at least one of the legendary characters live up to that status in terms of rarity. But I do think that giving it away after telling everyone that they've got until February of 2017 to grind out truly EARNING it would be a monumental slap in the face to everyone who took up that challenge and made it by the deadline.
Well its been almost 9 months since they had announced that this is the character you get for reaching 313, I think by now you could have had it instead of sitting here on the boards wasting your time typing your complaints about not having it. If it bothers you that much go get it, yes get your fingertips off the keyboard grab the controller and go get it. It is not hard just a little time consuming. Popcap has given you plenty of notice and extra time just to do this. It is not called a "Loyalty Reward" for nothing. Enjoy your time out there.
I have one great reason why it should be given away to everyone for free just for buying the game. One truly amazing reason (at least for me) as why I wish they would just give it to everyone.
Just to see the world burn. People would go bananas with anger and I would just sit back and watch it all with a bucket of popcorn and a nice refreshing bottle of adult beverage.
I agree that lvl 313 shouldnt be the only way of getting unicorn chomper, lvlig up to 313 doesnt mean loyality, i could have played WAY more time than a lvl 313 and still a lvl 50, just by ignoring the useless task, in any case a loyality player could be the one who already had purchased pvz gw1 when gw2 was released
