Pop Cap wants to know if people should be able to unlock Unicorn Chomper in GW2

@Jeremy Yes, it's obviously just a video game, but I think to make it fair, they should make the character unlockable (from GW2), as opposed to just handing it out. Obviously it would be great for all the kids, and fun, for them to hop on the game and see the character with a 5 dollar price tag as DLC. But I still think it's very fair to design the character with 2 different ways to unlock him.

It is VERY FAIR to have the character unlocked with a 20 or 25 rank plate, and still keep that secondary option at reaching level 313 on Garden Warfare 1... In a lot of cases, players might end up being closer to the 313 on GW1 than they are to rank 25 on GW2.

I'm not saying they should just give him out it was really more an example for the sake of story.  This is a great game, and people having to stop playing this game to go play another game just to get a character variant seems ridiculous.  I mean why would you only want to reward your old players while indirectly punishing new players that have found this game and want to join the community?  This isn't Pokemon, I should not have to own/play two different games just to get every character/variant on GW2.

People in general need to relax, whether it's released as 5$ DLC, GW 2 level requirement, weekend reward, or whatever.  We should all want to grow the community and have people excited and not isolated for being newcomers.

Also, I think it's crazy when people said , "I worked for this.", it's like come on, you played a video game.....how hard did you really work?

Uniorn chomper takes skill to use. If you haven't mastered 1 chomper you do not deserve the unicorn chomper at all. This is a small reward for a big effort and all of you who don't have it want it because you want max rank (99% of you are never going to reach it anyways if you got it) or because it looks cool.

I don't care either way.  I have plenty of other plants to play.  Why does someone have to be a master of the game to play a variant?  These is no competitive mode, I mean I play sunflower 99% of the time and do pretty well, however I recently switched to playing disco chomper and I kinda suck.  Does this mean I shouldn't play him because I don't have the skill?  I have fun playing him though, sometimes I win games and sometimes I don't, that's enough for me.

I am playing this game until I stop finding it fun.  Whether that is level 500 or 5 million.  I don't need a unicorn chomper, level status, or whatever to justify the fun I have had with the game, I think it's petty that people find it so important that other people don't get something so meaningless.

You misunderstand.  I am not calling you casual, but you like many here treat the UniChomper as if it were a coffee mug so you can CASUALLY suggest unlocking him at level 20 in GW2.

POPCAP went out of its way to acknowledge achieving rank 313 as a true achievement and wanted to do something nice for the players who did and could.  Enter the UniChomper. This is what is truly important.  Not the warp ability.  Not the skin.  Not its HP.  Isn't it enough that POPCAP cared enough about something in-game that wasn't required or a sign of progress to make this guy and for everyone to have an opportunity to get him? We only care that the devs are deterred from doing something like this again because of high and mighty players who are too good to play GW1 demanding alternatives to unlock him.

No one needs to relax, because last time I checked everyone has a whole year to unlock the Chomper by maxing their rank in GW1.  No one is above doing this.  The players who maxed their rank in GW1 before it existed did not ask for special treatment, therefore, neither can you or anyone else. 

Please go back to GW1 and max your rank unless of course you are better than I am and shouldn't have to.

Nope, nope and once more nope.

It was nice that PopCap decided to give UC as a reward for those who maxed first game. And it still needs to stay so at least until the time to get the chomper ends. So till the start of next March. When GW2 game out I was around lvl 80 in GW1. Few months ago I visited in the game and got in few days to lvl 120. Now I'm waiting to max first in GW2 and then go back to play GW1. I inted to get the chomper since I love to collect, but I will do it like Popcap intended and lvl up. Sure with time it wouldn't be too bad idea that those who ranked max in GW2 would also get UC, but any other ideas should be forgotten. It was suppose to be reward for certain achievement. Not for everyone to have, unless everyone unlocks it... Lvl up people, first those other characters in GW2 and then talk about getting the UC also.
I'm lvl 3370 or so atm in GW2, so on my way to max, but it's still gonna take sometime with my toddler and baby disturbing me. =)

how about having all legendary characters unlocked AND maxing out all your chompers, you already said maxing out all your characters wasnt as hard as working for unicorn chomper as a loyalty reward, but unlocking legendary characters is pretty hard or time consuming, needing alot of coins for half and getting good score to get a chance at pieces for infinity time, so even if you have alot of xbox live coins u still need to work hard to get it as you cannot buy packs containing party characters

I've read this entire thread, and it really sickens me how greedy the community is.

Those who have it seem to be holding on to the unicorn chomper for dear life, as if creating a way for the rest of us to unlock it will take it away from you. Is the fact of having an exclusive character for several months not enough of a reward for you? If I were you, I'd be wanting to share the experience of this variant with friends, not brag about owning it to make myself fell more elite than everyone else.

The thought of never being able to achieve maximum rank in this game is saddening to me; to know that my goal will never have a chance at becoming a reality would make me no longer have the energy to play the game. 5182 should be possible for anyone who tries hard enough. It won't harm any of you to let the hard players of GW2 get a chance; you still unlocked the unicorn chomper much earlier than anyone else.

A lot of people have been saying that those of us who really want it should go back to GW1 and earn it ourselves, but if you listen to what we've been saying, that is becoming less and less of an option every minute. Especially on PC, the servers of the original game hardly ever fill, so by the time we are halfway there, there's a high likelihood that there won't be enough people to create a fair game. Those who are still in GW1 are in there the same reason as me; playing a game with only pros is neither fun nor efficient in ranking up.

Of course, I'm not saying anyone and everyone should be given the unicorn chomper! I'm totally fine with having it unlocked once every other variant is mastered. As long as there's an option to obtain it in THIS game, I'm happy. Hero showcase is fine, as long as we have enough time to master it with constant use of the class. Unlocking it at a certain earlier rank would be nicer, but the chance that all these butthurt veterans will let us have any fun at all is very low. 

I really hope this thread won't be used as a measure of how much the community is interested in the ability to unlock the unicorn chomper. Since a majority of the people who create an account on these forums have it already, there is far too much bias (myself included) to make the correct decision.

Overall, a lot of you really need to grow up. You earned the class for free by working hard in Garden Warfare 1, we should be able to earn the class by working just as hard in Garden Warfare 2. A few more people having access to the unicorn chomper won't make it any less special for you. Stop trying to keep it all to yourselves.
