Popcap

Hi EA Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek clarification regarding a project involving PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies (PvZ).

My friends and I have been developing a client-based multiplayer mod for PvZ, which allows local hosting. Specifically, this means one PC acts as a server for other players on the same local network. Our intention is to enhance our gameplay experience without infringing on EA or PopCap's intellectual property rights.

Given EA and PopCap's stance against server-based fan games and mods, I want to ensure our project complies with the terms of service. Could you please provide guidance on the following points:

  1. Local Hosting: Is it permissible to host a PvZ multiplayer game locally, using a PC as a server for other players on the same network?
  2. Modding Policy: Are there specific guidelines or restrictions we should be aware of to avoid any potential legal issues?

We are committed to respecting EA and PopCap's terms and conditions and want to avoid any unintentional violations. If local hosting is not permitted, we will cease our efforts to implement this feature.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and clarification on this matter.

Best regards, Dexter

Hey @Dexztrr, these requests are out of our hands on the forums. You have to make a request for them. Check out this article, which will direct you to the policy set up to use EA content in general!

    Cheers!
