Nobody should be fine with this. This is predatory behavior. Casuals shouldn't be punished for their playstyle. They buy the base game the same as everyone else. But they could miss out on characters because they don't have as much time, or unable/unwilling to spend more money than a hardcore player?
You could get every variant, character, ability and cosmetic in Garden Warfare 2 without paying extra. You could take you sweet time without the fear of missing out. Veterans and hardcore players should speak up for the others.
Popcap, who are you? You microtransactions are increasingly aggressive, yet there are still fundamental balance and gameplay issues. I used to play every day for 4-5 hours. Now, I'm not even on most days. If I am, it's maybe an hour or two to complete quests. I intend to complete the Feastivus prize map, and then I'm probably done. And it pains me to type that, because I have put more hours into GW2 than any other game I have played, including RPGs and MMOs.
Have you seen the threads and responses regarding the state of the game? You're not responding, and the silence is deafening.

If so many people can come close to quitting because of this change, talking about the changing gaming industry (EA sucks but they don't with Popcap. Even Battle For Neighborville is acceptable and not disgusting.) Dave forbid if these players saw a game called Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2. Full of RNG Packs and overpowered legendary characters and whatnot.
My opinion, Popcap are dumb for adding this, because only 1 or 2 people are going to spend money on it. Why? Because getting bulbs is too easy. Do you know what's tragic though? Even though they're easy, people still say this change sucks because it forces people to pay if they don't have enough time. Not only is that pretty much most games, but it shows that if the Bulb earn-rate was 50,000 XP or 1000XP, it wouldn't matter to us loyal gamers. But yeah it's a dumb idea that doesn't hurt or make the game worse.

@kapkarrotGW2 allows coin purchases. Want a new ability (an ability for Pete's sake! The entire prize map is free and I only play for 25 minutes every day and I've nearly completed it already!) but it's too expensive? While I am not usually a fan of microtransactions, I will admit to picking up a few in GW2. There are two significant differences between GW2 and BfN purchases. First, I was never concerned about missing out on anything in GW2. But once a map has expired in BfN, we have no idea if or when that content will be back.
Secondly, the prices stink. I spent $9.99 on the Frontline Fighters upgrade in GW2. I received 2 legendary characters, 400 thousand coins, and a cosmetic pack. But I could've earned all that in the game if I wanted to put the time in.
The Feastivus Pack is $9.99, and you only get cosmetics. No characters, no currency, and no way to earn them in game. It's just an awful value.
I gave you some XP because I think it's good to have friendly debates on the forum.

Interesting.... they have taken out the "new characters" and "legendary upgrades" from the description.
Were they just testing the waters? Or was it a whoopsie? Or a leak?- 6 years ago@asabaida Hmmm!! I wondered about the wording on that - they describe the Feastivus & Chickpea customisation packs as "upgrades" which I've always thought was misleading!
I wish someone would just EXPLAIN what's going on!!!
- 6 years ago@kapkarrot The value of costumes changes in BFN. Why should I care about 2 legendary characters, 400k coins and a cosmetic pack if I can get that by just playing the game? (I agree though it is a better deal I'm just saying). I think a skin for $5 is fair. Not overly generous, but fair. Your choice if you want to buy it, you can live without it after all.
And for the record, I haven't spent any money on microtransactions, in any game. At all! I feel kinda bad tbh for not supporting Popcap unlike you guys. I just think that costumes don't have *any* value! Much better things to spend money on.
