Prize Bulbs On Sale For Rainbow Stars

I noticed this myself after the update and I sort of sighed a bit, but I wasn’t surprised.

EA has clearly mandated that PopCap go heavy with micro-transactions with this iteration of the game and since pay-to-win carries too much of a stigma nowadays  the only real option is to push the FOMO tactics and lean heavily into the psychological hooks which prey on those with poor spending control and who may not have the disposable income.

I myself have simply been ignoring the fact that Rux even exits in the game at all since it’s clear that he’s a “cash only” business now. I spent the free Rainbow Stars I received on a Chomper costume and I won’t bother even checking Rux again until I earn 1000 on my own- which will probably be in 6 months or so if I’m still playing at all.

I’d complain far less about the Rainbow Star economy if costumes and such simply cane into the store and stayed available as opposed to the predatory FOMO limited availability tactics being employed currently.

PvZ:BfN is the first EA game I’ve bought since GW2 and  there may not be another after this since it seems no game or franchise is safe from the predatory monetization tactics.

This... exactly the same.  I haven’t spent a penny on Rux and though they might believe they’ll conjure up more money with these tactics, they’re stone cold wrong with my money.  (And to think of the THOUSANDS my family spent on GW1 and 2 on our 4 different accounts).

I won’t spend another penny on BfN, if pay walls and time tables aren’t removed. 🙁

Likewise.  I have purchased coins and packs in GW2, but have no intention of ever buying a rainbow star.

Ooohhhh, so they DO know how to give us currency conversions! As long as it's the premium bought currency to exchange for earned currency. Where can I buy coins (and tacos, marshmallows, sheriff badges) with rainbow stars? Is that next patch?

@TLEsquire  No, I should’ve clarified as I now realize I’m probably the only friend on his list that’s also on these forums..... lately, dwooten’s system will be online so I’ll text him something rude and tasteless about playing a game... he replies something about Netflix but it never made sense (until I saw him reply to Jetblackcat so quickly... it all made sense).  Silly me, I see how I coulda confused you there. 😊👍

Welcome to a new episode of "How to ruin a game". Today: "one more nail in the coffin".

I really don't get it. First I was excited about being able to get Rainbow Stars for spending Prize Bulbs. But no, it's the other way around. Of course.

Some ideas about the next patch: Stars for Coins, Stars for Tacos/Badges/Marshmallows, Stars to use the XP-Machine more than 5 times per day/ Stars to get some new stuff out of the Reward-O-Tron but not with Coins, Stars to reset PVE areas, Stars to get certain buffs in PVP.

Sorry für being sarcastic but I'm badly disappointed and frustrated.

Of course it is great for players who don't have the time to finish the maps in time but once again with cash only. And look at the prices - way too high. I stocked up 15 million Coins but it feels so useless.  They keep giving me worthless currencies while PopCap tries to force me into paying cash.

Edit: BfN feels like playing those Free-to-play games.

Honestly... I don't know what more to say... everybody has already commented and covered it.,,, and I'm kinda speechless.
No idea why they chose to go this route, altogether the currency situation is insane!
I'm gathering currency of all kinds and yet, the currency I really would like and would be useful for Rux  is going to take me months to gather.
Yeah I could buy rainbow stars  to purchase a costume if I wanted but to be honest, as of yet, I haven't seen anything that inspires me to spend some an amount on cosmetics.

But what about the 10 million + coins I have, and all the excess bulbs that I earn that aren't added to my total because of the 50 max cap meaning that doing the character challenges this month is all about the hat (made worse by the 30 gift that was of no use in actual fact, just meant I was playing for a good period of the month and not being awarded the bulbs I earned) , and then the marshmallows, sherriff badges and tacos... oh I can change them for coins, thats cool.... oh no wait....
Auch I dunno why I am still playing to be honest.... it all seems a a bit of an empty experience.
Im still playing every day doing my challenges even although they earn me nothing at the moment... except of course more coins but we have covered that one.

It is laughable that while we were suggesting "what they should do is an exchange system... prize bulbs earned for rainbow stars" and they have in actual fact implemented the exact opposite.
I dunno, I'm still enjoying the game for the most part but I only play a few games a day now... my playtime has dropped dramatically and this is the only game I play (wee tiny ickle bit of GW2 once a blue moon).

Truly scared for the game at this point and it is getting a lot of negative feedback from some Reddit posts. Youtubers with large followings, predicting the game will be dead by June,, etc etc not good advertising for those maybe thinking about putting the game in peoples stockings.
I don't want to spend any more real money on this game if its just going to die an early death.

I just feel worried, sad, disappointed and a bit tired of it all, I just want to play the game and have fun...
I am tired of waiting for the next update to get some improvements that are desperately needed but then they always include  the other "unannounced" , "surprise" additions/ changes and not always good ones, in fact they seem to be getting worse all the time ...
then waiting for the next tidal wave and changes.

Anyway... buy a few prize bulbs for huge amounts of rainbow stars.... eh... no thanku.

Popcap-- server down for a update to firing and aim.

EA- great disguise for more micro transactions update.

It's showing to, Australian ps4 servers are down to handful regulars and come and go newbs in pvp games. Can only get a lobby and a bit at certain times and days.

3 months into gw2 I could play any time day or night pretty much and always got a lobby.

Players only put up with this kinda crap for so long.
