PVZ Garden Warfare still available for PS3?

Hello, I have an old PS3 (without PS Plus subcription). I purchased Plants Vs Zombies Garden Warfare via PS3 store, I downloaded, installed and able to lunch it, but when I tried to play it in any option available it fails to connect to EA Servers.

Question: Is PVZ Garden Warfare still available to be played with PS3? If yes, do I need to have a PS Plus subscription?

There have been some occasions when servers have been down for few hours (or days), but in general it is still available. I just played few rounds today!
And it works without playstation Plus subscription
