PvZ GW2 crashes immediately after launching

So i have just installed PvZ GW2, but it crashes every time i launch it.

CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3,3 GHZ

GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6450 Graphics

compared both to the minimum systém requirements on cpuboss.com and gpuboss.com and the CPU result was really good(that AMD GPU, that is listed as the minimum requirement isn't even there, but i assumed that my GPU is better because the number is higher)

what bothers me though is the error message

Faulting application name: GW2.Main_Win64_Retail.exe

Version: 1.0.4.0

Time stamp: 5734d6f0

Faulting module name: GW2.Main_Win64_Retail.exe

Version: 1.0.4.0

Time stamp: 5734d6f0

Exception code: c000001d

Fault offset: 000000000328b3f0

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

Other information 1: e562

Other information 2: e562c3a23d74f836fc39696d0a8785ba

Other information 3: 8714

Other information 4: 87149ac54c394439152d527edb0cd7ba

It says that the faulting module is the launching application itself.

Can someone help me? I have no idea how to fix this and i really want to play.

The first digit in the old Radeon number system was for the generation, not the performance level, and an "N450" is a very low end video device, lower than some Intel onboard video chips these days.  It is also relatively elderly, whatever performance level it might have been.  Neither of the highly publicized "check" sites are particularly accurate.

The SR Lab website is the worst of the two.  It is wrong so often, the place is just a very bad joke.   I also have seen some errors on some GPU Boss comnparisons, although not this time.

Note that after the game was finalized, AMD ceased to offer driver updates for the HD 5000 and HD 6000 GPU generations, so a substitute, the HD 7730, has been suggested.

    Thanks for the reply.

So, it is a GPU problem? Then what do you propose and can you guide me?

No i'm from the Czech Republic, i know the stores with PC components there.

So you're saying that there is no other solution then buying a new and better GPU?

You'll need to avoid the games that were developed using the Frostbyte game engine, such as PvZ: GW2, and stick to low intensity, simple games to suit the low end hardware.

And which AMD GPU should i look for then? Any, that has the last three numbers higher than 750? I guess it should be HD, so that it is compatible with my desktop

Since the HD 6000 generation (February, 2011), we've had the HD 7000s, the Rn 200s, and the Rn 300s, and those HD 7000 cards are getting hard to find now.

This outfit offers to ship almost anywhere, and $83 for an HD 7750 looks like a good deal for a minimum card . .   http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-Desktop-Graphics-Card-Radeon-HD-7750-1GB-GDDR5-128bit-DirectX-11-HDMI-DVI-DisplayPort-512SP/32496670826.html?spm=2114.40010308.4.2.I59RCY

I named one in Newegg's catalog that will do the job.  The R series cuts the numerals to three, with only the last two for performance.  You'd need an R7 370 or an R9 360.

  • Hi,

    I am having the same issue and have the below video card on a laptop;

Graphics Product [1] AMD Radeon (TM) HD 8500M/8700M
    Graphics Driver Version 16.150.2211.0
    3D Acceleration Yes
Hardware Transform & Lighting Support Yes
    Video Memory 1.8 GB
    Vertex Shader Support 5.0
    Pixel Shader Support 5.0
    Microsoft DirectX* Version 11.0
Graphics Product [2] AMD Radeon (TM) HD 8500M/8700M
    3D Acceleration Yes
Hardware Transform & Lighting Support Yes
    Video Memory 4.0 GB
    Vertex Shader Support 5.0
    Pixel Shader Support 5.0

Is this not good enough too?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

The HD 8500M / 8700M is roughly 20 to 25% slower than the minimum desktop Radeon required.  It may run the game at very low screen resolutions, and with most quality settings as low as they can go.  Its performance may be slow, but the crashing has some other source, such as drivers.
