I've sent the details onto the PvZ Heroes team. We're looking into it but I don't have a time frame at the moment as to when this will be resolved.

This thread is kind of old but my problem is almost the exact thing. Under solar flare and chompzilla it says to get by completing quests and I had the problem in October 2016 and it's June 2017. The update didn't fix the problem.
