Handled. Finally.
I have some tips if there's interest, but I don't think any newbies are really following this thread.
I still haven't unlocked torchwood and hover goat....
the trials end me... might eventually manage the shooting one, but the others aaaaargh....
cannot do the bloody things. So frustrating... just not fast or agile enough.
So to get by all the trials done THEN to win the gnome fights seems like an absolute impossibility.
I have all but given up on them....
haven't even tried for ages as it drives me *insert very bad word* nuts LOL
not fun at all, and I don't have the time to spend the hours/months/years that would be needed it seems for me personally, if ever.
And even more frustrating is watching vids/reading of folk completing them just like lalalalala... done...
And folk saying the trials are easy. I have read numerous hints etc
but I'm afraid I'm sadly just too useless ☹️

Revisit it in a few months. When I first attempted the trials on my first account, I felt the same as you and gave it up. As I approached max rank many months later, I realized I needed to finish the trials to get the characters in order to achieve the rank. It took me a while, but I got it.
This is my second time around the rodeo, and although the guardian was a challenge, I found the trials not that difficult. Each one took me maybe 20-40 minutes to finish. As you gain skill from playing, they will become more approachable.
I recommend the tutorials on youtube made by Strangeluv.

Yes, Strangeluv does very clear and detailed vids, I shall check out her Gnomus ones.
I know the feeling as I also found the trials incredibly difficult to complete, ranging from difficult to practically impossible. Strangeluv is clear and concise in her tutorials and is probably the best around. The only trial she (and all the others who make tutorials) cannot help one much with is the blue "Trial of Recollection" which I found nearly impossible to complete. I have done the trials twice now but have only managed the blue trail through pure luck and guesswork (many advise having someone to help to remember the symbols - I think she does too). It took me ages, but I got there in the end....and so will you.
